Youth Orchestra
A youth orchestra is an orchestra made of Youth, young musicians, typically ranging from pre-teens or teenagers to those of Music school, conservatory age. Depending on the age range and selectiveness, they may serve different purposes. Orchestras for young students have the primary purpose of music education, often led by a Conducting, conductor who is also a music teacher. Some youth orchestras have been set up by professional symphony orchestra, symphony orchestras, both as a training ground for future players, and as part of their community outreach program. Singapore National Youth Orchestra
The Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) is the national youth orchestra of Singapore. It is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a National Project of Excellence and a key development programme for talented young musicians. Since 1 January 2016, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has assumed management and operational responsibility for the SNYO, taking over the reins from the Ministry of Education. The SNYO is currently led by Principal Conductor Joshua Tan. It is made up of over 200 young musicians between the ages of 10 and 21. Entry into the SNYO is by a rigorous audition process. Members studying in mainstream secondary schools will have their participation in the SNYO recognised in lieu of a school-based Co-Curricular Activity (CCA). Baltic Sea Philharmonic (formerly ''Baltic Youth Philharmonic'') is an orchestra which consists of musicians from countries around Baltic Sea. The orchestra's conductor is Kristjan Järvi. The orchestra was established in 2008 by the initiative of Thomas Hummel. In 2015, the orchestra was awarded with European Culture Prize by the European Culture Foundation 'Pro Europe'. Kremerata Baltica
Kremerata Baltica is a chamber music, chamber orchestra consisting of musicians from Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). It was founded by Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer in 1997. Gidon Kremer is an artistic director of Kremerata Baltica. The Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie (IJOA), or International Youth Orchestra Academy, is an international range orchestra for young people, based in Pleystein, Bavaria. It has special associations with the Bayreuth Easter Festival. Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra
Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) is a youth orchestra based in Vienna, Austria, founded in 1986 by conductor Claudio Abbado, and named after Gustav Mahler. It is an associated member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras. History In 1992, the orchestra became the first pan-European youth orchestra to offer access to young musicians in former communist countries like Hungary and Czechoslovakia, by holding open auditions in the former Eastern Bloc. The European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) is a training initiative which allows young performers of baroque music from the European Union to gain orchestral experience as part of their career development. Its purpose is to bridge the gap between conservatoire study and a professional career. European Union Youth Orchestra
The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) is a youth orchestra with members drawn from the 27 members states of the European Union. Since its foundation in 1976, it has connected music colleges and the professional music world for generations of European musicians. EUYO is considered one of the best youth orchestras in the world, achieving "extraordinarily high standards" and playing at all major European festivals, including the Proms, the Salzburg Festival, and Young Euro Classic.
