Julia Sears
Julia Sears (1839–1929) was a pioneering academic and suffragist, achieving a milestone early in her career as she became the first woman to head a public college in the United States, in 1872. Diana Natalicio
Diana Natalicio (née Diana Siedhoff; August 25, 1939 – September 24, 2021) was an American academic administrator who served as 10th president of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from 1988 to 2019. After growing up in St. Louis, Natalicio studied Spanish as an undergraduate, completed a master's degree in Portuguese and earned a doctorate in linguistics. She became an assistant professor at UTEP in 1971, and was named the first female president of the university on February 11, 1988. As of February 2016, Natalicio had the longest tenure among incumbent presidents at major public research universities. Texas Southmost College (TSC) is a public junior college located in Brownsville, Texas. History Early history Texas Southmost College was established in 1926 under the name of The Junior College of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, as a subsidiary of the local school district in Brownsville. On September 21, 1926, 84 students began classes, meeting in the old Brownsville High School. From 1928 to 1948, it was located in Brownsville High School and Brownsville Elementary School on Palm Boulevard between Washington Street and Jefferson Street. Janet Eisner
Sr. Janet Eisner is the President Emerita of Emmanuel College. During her presidency, she was the longest currently serving female president of a college in the United States, as well as the longest-serving president of a Catholic college or university between 1979 and 2022. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1958. Biography Education Eisner graduated from high school in Lynn, Massachusetts at St. Mary's High School. Sister Thomas Welder, OSB (born Diane Marie Welder; April 27, 1940June 22, 2020) was an American educator, academic administrator, and Benedictine nun. Born and raised in North Dakota, she entered Annunciation Monastery in 1959, at age 19. She began working at the Benedictine-sponsored Mary College in 1963 and served as its president from 1978 to 2009. Under Welder, the college expanded to become the University of Mary. She received North Dakota's highest honor, the Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award, in 2004. Early life and education Diane Marie Welder was born on April 27, 1940, in Linton, North Dakota, to Mary Ann (née Kuhn) and Sebastian Welder.
