James Bruce Falls
James Bruce Falls (unofficial name) is a waterfall in British Columbia, Canada, the highest-measured waterfall of North America and ninth-tallest in the world. Located in Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park, it stems from a small snowfield and cascades down to Princess Louisa Inlet. Two parallel streams, for which the falls are named, come from this snowfield, and do not have consistent flow throughout the year and during hot summers they usually dry up. The stream flows into Loquilts Creek, which empties into the inlet via the better known Chatterbox Falls. Della Falls is a waterfall located within Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. With a total height of , it ranks as the 16th tallest confirmed waterfall in Canada and the second tallest on Vancouver Island after Kiwi Falls in Schoen Lake Provincial Park. Discovery In 1899, prospector and trapper Joe Drinkwater discovered* Della Falls and named them after his wife. Drinkwater also built a 16 km (10 mi) hiking trail to the falls via Drinkwater Creek. Evidence of his gold mining operation, including an aerial tramway he built, can still be seen near the falls. *Discovered in the European context. Takakkaw Falls (; also spelled Takkakaw) is a waterfall located in Yoho National Park, near Field, British Columbia in Canada. The falls have a total height of , making them the second tallest waterfall in Canada. The main drop of the waterfall has a height of . "Takakkaw" translates to "magnificent” in Cree. The falls are fed by the meltwater of the Daly Glacier, which is part of the Waputik Icefield. The glacier keeps the volume of the falls up during the warm summer months, and they are a tourist attraction, particularly in late spring after the heavy snow melts, when the falls are at peak condition. Hunlen Falls is a waterfall located at the mouth of Turner Lake in the Pacific Ranges of British Columbia, Canada. With an estimated height of , it is tied with Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park for having the fourth tallest single drop of any waterfall in Canada. Name origin The falls were named in 1947 after a Chilcotin Chief named Hana-lin, who used to fish below the falls in the autumn with a fish trap, and trap game nearby.
