The following is a comprehensive list of universities in Myanmar, categorised by state and region. Nearly all major and national universities in Myanmar are in Yangon Region and Mandalay Region. The Burmese higher education system is entirely state-run, and its universities and colleges are organised along their fields of studies. The country's 150-plus universities and colleges are administered by various government ministries. For example, liberal arts and science universities such as Yangon University and Mandalay University, and technological universities are run by the Ministry of Education, the medical schools are run by the Ministry of Health, Private colleges offer international joint diploma to the residents in some fields such as engineering, computing, and Business administration. Bogale ( my, ဘိုကလေးမြို့ ; also spelled Bogalay) is a small city located in the Bogale Township, Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar (Burma). It is located on the south-western part of Myanmar/Burma on the mainland section of the country. It can be reached by both water transportation and by land. Technological University (Pathein) is situated at the Apin-ne-se village which is in Pathein District, the Ayeyawady Division, Myanmar. Technological University (Maubin) ( my, နည်းပညာတက္ကသိုလ် (မအူပင်) is situated near Aung Heit village, Maubin Township, in Ayeyawady Region of Myanmar. It was first opened as Government Technical Institute (Maubin) on 3 November 1989. It was upgraded to Government Technological College on 31 May 2002, and to Technological University (Maubin) on 20 January 2007. The Technological University (Hinthada) started as Technical High School (T.H.S) on August 1, 1977. It was located in south of Tar Ngar Sge Quarter, Hinthada Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyarwady Division. It was again up to Government Technological College (G.T.C). The College was moved to the present University on April 21, 2003. During the academic year of 2015/2016, the total numbers of students attending at TU (Hinthata) are 1500. Pathein (, ; mnw, ဖာသီ, ), formerly called Bassein, is the largest city and the capital of the Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar (Burma). It is located 190 km (120 mi) west of Yangon within Pathein Township on the bank of the Pathein River (Pathein), which is a western branch of the Irrawaddy River, the city has a population of 237,089 (2017 census). Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary is a private Christian college located in Mosokwin Road, Myaungmya, about west of Yangon, the Yangon International Airport of Myanmar. Maubin University
Maubin ( my, မအူပင် ) is a town in the Ayeyarwady Division of south-west Myanmar. It is the seat of the Maubin Township in the Maubin District. The population as of 2021 was 51,542. The inhabitants of the town, as well as the district are mainly Bamar and Karen. During Cyclone Nargis which devastated the Irrawaddy Delta, the Burmese military offered convoys to refugees to Ma-ubin to escape the devastation in the worst-hit areas. Hinthada ( my, ဟင်္သာတမြို့; formerly Henzada) is a city located on the Irrawaddy River in Ayeyarwady Region, Burma (Myanmar). In the 1983 census the city itself had a population of 82,005.
