Punjab (; ) is a state in northern India. Forming part of the larger Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, the state is bordered by the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh to the north and northeast, Haryana to the south and southeast, and Rajasthan to the southwest; by the Indian union territories of Chandigarh to the east and Jammu and Kashmir to the north. 1987 Lalru Bus Massacre
The 1987 Lalru bus massacre was a massacre of 38 Hindu bus passengers on 6 July 1987, by the Khalistan Commando Force militants near Lalru, India. The killings The bus involved in the attack was the Haryana Roadways bus numbered HYE 1735, traveling from Chandigarh to Rishikesh, a Hindu holy place. On the night of 6 July 1987, it carried 76 passengers (most of whom were Hindus), when five attackers started trailing it. The passengers first saw the Fiat car, in which the attackers were traveling, at a railway crossing around 20 km from Chandigarh. Around 5 km later, the car suddenly blocked the bus, and the bus driver Hari Singh (the only Sikh on the bus) thought that the car driver was drunk. Four armed men came out of the car, threatened him with a Sten gun, and hijacked the bus. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( ; , , ) is an Indian Right-wing politics, right-wing, Hindu nationalist, paramilitary volunteer organisation. The RSS is the progenitor and leader of a large body of organisations called the Sangh Parivar (Hindi for "Sangh family"), which have presence in all facets of the Indian society. RSS was founded on 27 September 1925. , it has a membership of 5–6million. The initial impetus was to provide character training through Hindu discipline and to unite the Hindu community to form a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation). Shiv Sena ( IAST: ''Śiva Sēnā'') () was a right-wing to far-right Marathi regionalist and Hindu ultranationalist political party in India founded in 1966 by cartoonist Bal Thackeray. Originally emerging from nativist movements in Bombay (present-day Mumbai), the party agitated for preferential treatment for the Marathi people over migrants from other parts of India. Its election symbol for Maharashtra was the ''Bow and Arrow''. Although the party's primary base always remained in Maharashtra, it tried to expand to a pan-Indian base. Use ''Bole So Nihal...Sat Sri Akal'' (''Shout Aloud in Ecstasy... True is the Great Timeless One'') is the Sikh slogan or ''jaikara'' (lit. shout of victory, triumph or exultation) which means ''one will be blessed eternally who says that God is the ultimate truth''. Besides being a popular mode of expressing ebullient religious fervour or a mood of joy and celebration, it is an integral part of Sikh liturgy and is shouted at the end of '' ardas,'' Sikh prayer and said in '' sangat'' or holy congregation. Beant Singh (chief Minister)
Beant Singh (19 February 1922 – 31 August 1995) was an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1992 to 1995. He was a member of Indian National Congress. He was assassinated in a suicide bombing. Early life Beant was born in Jhajj Jat Sikh Family from Bilaspur village near Doraha in Ludhiana District. The family migrated to Canal colonies of the West Punjab but shifted to village Kotli (Kotla Afghana) near Payal in the Ludhiana district after partition. He completed his education from the Government College Lahore. At the age of 23, he joined the army but after two years of service, decided to make a switch to politics and social work.
