Terrorism
Terrorism, in its broadest sense, is the use of criminal violence to provoke a state of terror or fear, mostly with the intention to achieve political or religious aims. The term is used in this regard primarily to refer to intentional violence during peacetime or in the context of war against non-combatants (mostly civilians and neutral country, neutral military personnel). The terms "terrorist" and "terrorism" originated during the French Revolution of the late 18th century but became widely used internationally and gained worldwide attention in the 1970s during The Troubles, the Troubles in Northern Ireland, the Basque conflict, and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. 2003 Znamenskoye Suicide Bombing
The Znamenskoye Grozny suicide bombing happened on May 12, 2003, in Znamenskoye in Chechnya, when three rebel suicide bombers, including two women, drove a truck bomb into a local government administration and the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) directorate complex, killing at least 59 people and injuring about 200, mostly civilians. The complex contained the republican headquarters of the FSB. Mike's Place Suicide Bombing
The Mike's Place suicide bombing was a Palestinian suicide attack, perpetrated by Hamas and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades affiliated British Muslims, at Mike's Place, a bar in Tel Aviv, Israel, on April 30, 2003, killing three civilians and wounding 50. First attack Preparations for the attack The two assailants entered Israel from Jordan, via the Allenby Bridge. They reached the scene of the attack from a nearby hotel where they had rented a room. Investigators who later searched their room discovered an elastic belt, explosives and a map of downtown Tel Aviv, on which several crowded venues, including Mike's Place, were clearly marked. Mulund Railway Station
Mulund is a railway station on the Central Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. Mulund railway station is connected via the Central Railway to South Bombay and remote places like Khopoli and Kasara. History Mulund station was built to serve the suburb of Mulund, which was laid out in the 1920s. In the 1970s a new goods terminal was constructed at Mulund to handle increased volumes of freight. 2003 Mumbai Train Bombing
At 19:45 hrs on 13 March 2003, a bomb exploded as a train pulled into the Mulund railway station. The bomb was placed in the first class ladies' compartment and killed 10 people with 70 injured. Among the ten killed were four women in the first class compartment, two of which were police constables, and six men who were in the adjoining second class compartment. This was the third in a series of five bombings against the city within a period of eight months.
