Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter, and composer. He has recorded 10 studio albums and numerous tracks on compilations and film soundtracks. He has also written two classical operas and set Shakespeare's sonnets to music for a theatre piece by Robert Wilson. Wainwright's self-titled debut album was released through DreamWorks Records in May 1998. His second album, '' Poses'', was released in June 2001. Wainwright's third and fourth studio albums, ''Want One'' (2003) and ''Want Two'' (2004), were repackaged as the double album ''Want'' in 2005. Pierre Marchand (born 1958) is a Canadian songwriter, musician and record producer. Marchand is known for his ongoing collaboration with Sarah McLachlan, having produced all of her albums since ''Solace'' in 1991. He also co-wrote several of McLachlan's singles, including "Building a Mystery", "Adia", " Into the Fire", and "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy". Marchand has also worked with many other singer-songwriters, including Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Rufus Wainwright, Ron Sexsmith, Leigh Nash, Stevie Nicks, Daniel Lanois, The Devlins, Greg Keelor, Patty Larkin and Lhasa de Sela. It appears as the opening track on his second studio album, '' Poses'' (2001). The song addresses decadence and desire, and has been called an "ode to subtle addictions and the way our compulsions rule our lives". A reprise version of the song appears as the last track on the album. Music video The music video for the track, directed by Giles Dunning and released by DreamWorks in 2001, features Wainwright performing the song at a piano inside a warehouse, and scenes of him walking around New York City. The audio track of the video is actually the reprise version, with the added percussion backing. Guy Antony Chambers (born 12 January 1963) is an English songwriter, musician and record producer, best known for his work with Robbie Williams. Education Chambers attended Quarry Bank Comprehensive School sixth form in Liverpool. From 18, he studied composition and piano at the Guildhall School of Music, London. Career Chambers joined World Party in 1986. He co-wrote 'Love Street' with Karl Wallinger on the band's album ''Goodbye Jumbo''. He appeared on The Mission's album ''Carved in Sand'', providing the orchestral arrangement and piano for the song "Grapes of Wrath", and was producer for the short-lived group Stress with their debut album. The Best of Rufus Wainwright is a concert tour by American-Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright in support of his greatest hits album, '' Vibrate: The Best of Rufus Wainwright'' (2014). The tour was announced on Wainwright's official website in December 2013, initially for 23 performances in more than 20 countries throughout Europe during March–April 2014. Subsequent dates were added in France, the United States and the United Kingdom, extending the number of concerts to 31. Wainwright's half-sister, Lucy Wainwright Roche, was the opening act for select dates. Ethan Thomas Robert Johns (born 1969 in Merton, London, England) is an English record producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. ''Poses'' is the second studio album by the American-Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, released through DreamWorks Records in June 2001. The album was recorded, mixed, and produced by Pierre Marchand, with select tracks produced by Propellerheads' Alex Gifford ("Shadows"), Ethan Johns ("California"), Damian LeGassick ("The Tower of Learning"), and Greg Wells ("Across the Universe"). ''Poses'' contains ornate, piano-driven arrangements that cite a wide variety of musical sources, from "indie pop to Gershwin to trip-hop and back again."
