Paul Kelly (Australian Musician)
Paul Maurice Kelly (born 13 January 1955) is an Australian rock music singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has performed solo, and has led numerous groups, including the Dots, the Coloured Girls, and the Messengers. He has worked with other artists and groups, including associated projects Professor Ratbaggy and Stardust Five. Kelly's music style has ranged from Bluegrass music, bluegrass to studio-oriented dub music, dub reggae, but his core output straddles folk music, folk, rock and country music, country. Oscar Fetrás
Oscar Fetrás (16 February 1854 – 10 January 1931) was a German composer of popular dance music, military marches, piano pieces and arrangements. Fetrás had over 200 compositions to his name. His best known work is his waltz "Mondnacht auf der Alster" Op. 60 which is still immensely popular to the present day. Biography Fetrás was born as Otto Kaufmann Faster in 1854 in Hamburg. His father Matthias Faster was an Hamburgian editor of a stock-exchange magazine. The Faster family originally came from Bützfleth, a locality of today's Stade near Hamburg. Fetrás's grandfather, a sea captain, died in the sinking of his ship ''Ceres''. His mother Amalie Margarethe, born Decker, had ancestral origins from the island of Sylt. Alster
The Alster () is a right tributary of the Elbe river in Northern Germany. It has its source near Henstedt-Ulzburg, Schleswig-Holstein, flows somewhat southwards through much of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and joins the Elbe in central Hamburg. The Alster is Hamburg's second most important river. While the Elbe river is a tidal navigation of international significance and prone to flooding, the Alster is a non-tidal, slow-flowing and in some places, seemingly untouched idyll of nature, in other places tamed and landscaped urban open space, urban space. De Hamborger Veermaster
De Hamborger Veermaster (Standard German: Der Hamburger Viermaster, English: Hamburg's four-master) is a famous sea shanty sung in Low German, presumably first published between 1850 and 1890. It is partly in English, an adaptation of the shanty "The Banks of the Sacramento", and partly in Low German. Particularly in Northern Germany (the homeland of the Low German language), it was and still is sung as a work song. Some claim that the "four-master" was the Hamburg America Line sailing ship ''Deutschland'' (built in 1847) which at that time was used in transatlantic emigrant transport, but it is unclear whether any specific vessel is in fact referred to. Another source says that the text would refer to the Liverpool steamer ''Crimean'' (built in 1865) which had been bought and converted into a sailing ship by the Hamburg shipping company ''Sloman'' after 1885. Albert Methfessel
Albert Methfessel (6 October 1785 – 23 March 1869) was a German composer, singer, musicologist, and conductor. Originally destined by his parents for service in the church, like his older brother, he left theological studies because of his great interest in music. Given a scholarship by local nobility, he was able to formally study music, and then return to his hometown of Rudolstadt to perform and sing for twelve years. He spent three years in Hamburg before becoming an itinerant musician for seven years. His period of greatest income was as Kapellmeister in Braunschweig from 1832 to 1842. His career was then hampered by health difficulties, but he continued to compose, write musical treatises, and correspond with his fellow musicians until his death in 1869. He is most well-known for his vocal compositions, in particular, his works for students and for male voices. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (8 March 1714 – 14 December 1788), also formerly spelled Karl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, and commonly abbreviated C. P. E. Bach, was a German Classical period musician and composer, the fifth child and second surviving son of Johann Sebastian Bach and Maria Barbara Bach. C. P. E. This is a list of compositions by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. It is sorted by H (Helm) numbers, but the corresponding Wq. (Wotquenne) numbers are also shown. C. P. E. Bach's works have been catalogued in different ways. The first comprehensive catalogue was that by Alfred Wotquenne first published in 1905, and this led to Wq. numbers being used. In 1989 E. Eugene Helm produced a revised catalogue, and H numbers are now also used. The catalog assignment numbers listed here conform to an accepted concordance found between Wq. numbers and H numbers. They do not however reflect parallel chronologies in Bach's works. Helm's is now the preferred catalog for the works of CPE Bach. This listing also conforms substantially to the works given by Grove's Music Online.
