List Of Secondary Schools In Singapore
This is a list of secondary schools in Singapore. Most secondary schools in Singapore offer a four-year Express course (Special course for Special Assistance Plan schools) or a five-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level. Some schools offer the six-year Integrated Programme, which lead to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level or International Baccalaureate Diploma. Autonomous schools have more autonomy as compared to other government-run secondary schools to plan their own curriculum and activities. However, such schools may charge additional, miscellaneous fees on top of the regular school fees paid by all students attending government or government-aided schools. Independent schools are granted autonomy to its own school curriculum, programmes and school fees. Secondary School
A secondary school describes an institution that provides secondary education and also usually includes the building where this takes place. Some secondary schools provide both '' lower secondary education'' (ages 11 to 14) and ''upper secondary education'' (ages 14 to 18), i.e., both levels 2 and 3 of the ISCED scale, but these can also be provided in separate schools. In the US, the secondary education system has separate middle schools and high schools. In the UK, most state schools and privately-funded schools accommodate pupils between the ages of 11–16 or 11–18; some UK private schools, i.e. public schools, admit pupils between the ages of 13 and 18. Catholic Junior College (CJC) () is a junior college in Singapore, offering a two-year course for pre-university students leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examination. Founded in 1975, Catholic Junior College was the third junior college to be established in Singapore. History Plans for a junior college operated by the Catholic mission were first announced by then-Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the opening of National Junior College in May 1970, as one of several planned to be set up. Subsequently, the Catholic mission disclosed plans for a fund-raising campaign in June 1970. Catholic High School (CHS) is a government-aided autonomous Catholic boys' school in Bishan, Singapore, founded in 1935 by a French missionary, Reverend Father Edward Becheras. One of the Special Assistance Plan schools in Singapore, it has a primary school section offering a six-year primary education, as well as a secondary school section offering a four-year secondary education. Bukit View Secondary School
Bukit View Secondary School (BTVSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Bukit Batok, Singapore. History The building of the school began on 30 September 1984 and was completed on 29 December 1985. It started classes with 450 students in the Secondary One and Two levels and 15 teachers on 3 January 1986, headed by the school's first principal, Ow Chiong Hoo. In the same year, the school saw the first Investiture of the BTVSS Student Council, the formation of the school's military band and the library. The school was fully functional with the completion of the outdoor fitness stations and the landscaped garden. Bukit Panjang Government High School
Bukit Panjang Government High School (BPGHS) is a co-educational government autonomous secondary school in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore. History BPGHS was formed in 1960 with the merging of Bukit Panjang Secondary School and Chua Chu Kang Government Chinese Middle School into a single school building at Jalan Teck Whye. It was the first integrated government school in Singapore. The spirit of the school's beginning is described on the cover of the first school magazine: "Dominating the Bukit Panjang horizon are the twin peaks of Bukit Panjang—two peaks but one hill—symbolic of the integrated Chinese and English streams of education which work and play together as one in the valley below." Bukit Merah Secondary School
Bukit Merah Secondary School (BMSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Bukit Merah, Singapore. BMSS has established itself as a Value-Added school since 1993, offering the Express, Normal Academic and Normal Technical streams leading to a Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level certificate. History BMSS was the 101st school built by the government. It was completed and handed over to the Ministry of Education on 28 December 1967. Broadrick Secondary School (BSS) is a co-educational government secondary school located along Old Airport Road, Singapore. The school is located beside Dakota MRT station. History Broadrick Secondary School was first established in 1968 at Dunman Road as an integrated school with both English and Chinese streams. Bedok () is a planning area and matured residential town located in the geographical region of Tanah Merah along the south-eastern coast of the East Region of Singapore. Bedok South Secondary School (BDS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Bedok, Singapore. It is one of eight schools to be selected for the Ministry of Education's 'Teach Less, Learn More' programmes.
