Secondary Education
Secondary education or post-primary education covers two phases on the International Standard Classification of Education scale. Level 2 or lower secondary education (less commonly junior secondary education) is considered the second and final phase of basic education, and level 3 (upper) secondary education or senior secondary education is the stage before tertiary education. Every country aims to provide basic education, but the systems and terminology remain unique to them. Campbell College
Campbell College located in Belfast, Northern Ireland and founded in 1894 comprises a preparatory school department (junior age) and a senior Northern Ireland 'Voluntary Grammar' school, the latter meaning, in terms of provision of education, a government funded, selective school. The school is one of a number of schools in the state funded grammar sector in Northern Ireland which can offer paid boarding places to some pupils, typically to be funded by the pupil, although the majority of pupils are day pupils. Rathmore Grammar School
Rathmore Grammar School, normally referred to simply as "Rathmore", is a Catholic grammar school in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. The current and second lay principal of the school is Arthur Donnelly, who succeeded Thérèse Hamilton as principal at the beginning of the academic year 2021/22. Rathmore is one of the highest-performing and most competitive schools in Northern Ireland. The school is situated in extensive grounds behind the St. Anne's "campus", consisting of St. Anne's Primary School, Parish Church, and Parish Centre. Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock, known locally as Knock or OLSPCK, is a Catholic diocesan grammar school in Knock in the east of Belfast in Northern Ireland. The school, with an expanding enrolment, announced in late 2019 it anticipated future enrolment of 1,330. Foundation The school opened as St Patrick's College on 4 September 1967 on a site at Gortgrib in the Cherryvalley area of east Belfast with Fr. Joseph Conway as president. It is a sister college of St Malachy's College and St MacNissi's College, Garron Tower. By the previous April, the need for a new boys' grammar school catering for the North Down and East Belfast area had become urgent. Malone Integrated College is a grant maintained, integrated, co-educational, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious secondary school, situated in Finaghy, South-West Belfast, Northern Ireland. Lagan College is an integrated secondary school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It holds a total of around 1540 students. It was formed in 1981 as the first integrated school in Northern Ireland and contains students of mainly Roman Catholic and Protestant faiths, however students from other faiths also attend the school. The school is situated on National Trust land, overlooking Belfast. It is named after the River Lagan, which flows through the city. Hunterhouse College
Hunterhouse College is a cross-community all-girls' grammar school based in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was formed from the amalgamation of two local schools – ''Ashleigh House School'' and ''Princess Gardens School'' in 1987. As the headmistresses from both schools had the surname "Hunter" at the time of the merger, and an original headmistress was Anna Hunter, the combined school took the name "Hunterhouse College". Hunterhouse now has its first ever headmaster. Mr Andrew Gibson has been the Principal since September 2008 and was previously Vice-Principal at Grosvenor Grammar. In 2012 Hunterhouse celebrated its 25 Anniversary year including a concert at the Ulster Hall, Belfast, which past Hunterians, Princess Gardens and Ashleigh House pupils attended. Grosvenor Grammar School (formerly Grosvenor High School) is an 11–18 co-educational controlled grammar school and sixth form in Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. History Grosvenor Grammar School was founded in 1945 as Grosvenor High School, by the Belfast Corporation, to cope with the increase in demand for grammar-school education in the area. It was sited in Roden Street, off Grosvenor Road, and remained there until 1958, when the school moved to Cameronian Drive in the east of the city. In 2010, the school moved to its present location, Marina Park. Its headmasters have been William Moles (1945–1972), Ken Reid (1972–1993), John Lockett (1993–2008), and R. S. McLoughlin (2008–2014). Dominican College ( ga, An Coláiste Doiminiceach, Dún Liam) a Catholic grammar all-girls school in Fortwilliam Park, north Belfast, Northern Ireland. History The school was established in 1930 by the Dominican Sisters. It was initially established as a Catholic Commercial College for Belfast, alongside a second-level school. In 2006, the management of the school passed from the Dominican Sisters to lay management.
