London Borough Of Waltham Forest
The London Borough of Waltham Forest () is a London borough in north-east London, England. Its population is estimated to be 276,983 in 2019. It borders five other London boroughs: Enfield to the north-west, Haringey to the west, Hackney to the south-west, Newham to the south-east and Redbridge to the east, as well as the non-metropolitan county of Essex to the north. The borough was formed in 1965 from the merger of the municipal boroughs of Leyton, Walthamstow and Chingford; it took its name from Waltham Forest – an institution which managed deer in south-west Essex. Epping Forest is a remainder of the former Waltham Forest and forms the eastern and northern fringe of the borough. The River Lea lies to the west where its associated marshes and parkland form a green corridor which, along the reservoir-lined reaches, separates north and east London, and is the historic border between Middlesex and Essex. Norlington School
Norlington School is a boys' secondary school and Mixed-sex education, coeducational sixth form located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, in East London. The school is situated on Norlington Road in Leyton. History Norlington Road Council School was initially an Elementary school (England and Wales), elementary school for boys, girls, and Infant school, infants, which opened in 1903. In 1932 it was reorganized for senior girls, junior girls, and infants. In 1940 the school was badly damaged by German bombs during the Blitz. The junior department became mixed in 1942. In 1948 the school became a secondary modern school for boys. An extension was completed in 1964 to provide science labs and woodwork and metalwork rooms. In 1968, Waltham Forest adopted the Comprehensive school, Comprehensive system and it became Norlington Junior High School for Boys, catering for 11- to 14-year-olds. Forest School is an independent day school in Walthamstow in the London borough of Waltham Forest. The school occupies a large campus around its original Grade II listed Georgian and Victorian terraced buildings. The school has more than 1,430 pupils, aged 4 to 18, split equally between boys and girls. History Foundation and the first two decades The earliest buildings at the front of the school date from the eighteenth century, when the site consisted of brick kilns and adjoining cottages owned by Thomas Skingle, a brick maker. In 1830 Exeter College was established there by William Oram, however it was unsuccessful and by 1833 had closed down. Sir George Monoux College
Sir George Monoux College is a sixth form college located in Walthamstow, London. It is a medium-sized college with around 1,620 full-time students as of 2018. Brief history Sir George Monoux, the founder of the Grammar School (later College), was born in or before 1465. In 1506 he was a Warden of the Drapers Company, in 1509 he became the Sheriff of London and later in 1514 he became Lord Mayor. Sir George Monoux was elected to Parliament as a Burgess for the City in 1523. He was a wealthy man who spent much of his time in Walthamstow. George Monoux (alderman of London and local worthy) erected the Almshouses, associated school and feast ball for the poor of Walthamstow on a former parcel of St. Mary's Churchyard in 1527 in Walthamstow Village.
