Central Queensland
Central Queensland is an ambiguous geographical division of Queensland ( a state in Australia) that centres on the eastern coast, around the Tropic of Capricorn. Its major regional centre is Rockhampton. The region extends from the Capricorn Coast west to the Central Highlands at Emerald, north to the Mackay Regional Council southern boundary, and south to Gladstone. Shire Of Livingstone
The Shire of Livingstone is a local government area located in the Capricornia region of Central Queensland, Queensland, Australia, to the immediate north and east of the regional city of Rockhampton. The shire, administered from the coastal town of Yeppoon, covers an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils to become the Rockhampton Region. The Shire was re-established on 1 January 2014 following a successful de-amalgamation referendum in 2013. Industry within the shire is diverse. Timber is harvested from extensive pine plantations near Byfield in the north. Significant pineapple production takes place within the shire, as well as other agricultural crops. Ambrose, Queensland
Ambrose is a rural town and locality in the Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Ambrose had a population of 218 people. Geography The Bruce Highway and North Coast railway pass through the northern part of the locality; the town centre is close to both. Most of the land is in the locality is used for grazing cattle. History The town is named after Henry Gilbert Ambrose (1876–1950), an early settler in the area. Ambrose Provisional School opened in December 1913 with 12 students. On 1 December 1914, it became Ambrose State School. It celebrated its centenary in 2014. Langmorn Creek Crossing Provisional School opened on 20 October 1915 but closed circa 31 January 1916. The Barcaldine Region is a local government area in Central West Queensland, Australia. Established in 2008, it was preceded by three previous local government areas which had existed for over a century. It has an estimated operating budget of A$21.6 million. Alpha, Queensland
Alpha is a rural town and a locality in the Barcaldine Region, Queensland, Australia. At the , the locality had a population of 559 people. Geography Alpha is in Central West Queensland. It lies on Alpha Creek. The Capricorn Highway runs through from east to west, and the Clermont-Alpha Road enters from the north-east. The Central Western railway line passes through the town, which is served by Alpha railway station. The town is a service centre for the surrounding pastoral properties and travellers on the highway. The Queensland Heritage Register is a heritage register, a statutory list of places in Queensland, Australia that are protected by Queensland legislation, the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. It is maintained by the Queensland Heritage Council. As at 5 April 2020 there are 1790 places on the Queensland Heritage Register, including the Story Bridge in Brisbane and the Ross River Meatworks Chimney in Townsville. Criteria For a place to be entered in the register, it must be nominated and then go through a process of assessment. Allenstown is a suburb of Rockhampton, Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. It is situated by road south-west of the Rockhampton CBD. In the , Allenstown had a population of 2,790 people. Allenstown State School is a heritage-listed state school at 13–33 Upper Dawson Road, Allenstown, Rockhampton, Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1884 by Department of Public Works. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 20 September 2019. History Allenstown State School was established on its current site in 1877. Agnes Water is a coastal town and a locality in the Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Agnes Water had a population of 2,729 people. Geography Agnes Water is in Central Queensland approximately south-east of the Bruce Highway, Queensland's major coastal route. It is accessed via the main road called Round Hill Road. Shire Of Winton
The Shire of Winton is a local government area in Central West Queensland, Australia. It covers an area of , and has existed as a local government entity since 1887. Its administrative centre is located in the town of Winton. It is named after Winton, Dorset, England, the birthplace of Robert Allen, the first white settler in the Winton (Queensland) area. The major industry in the shire is beef production and some opal mining. There has been some development of the known oil and gas reserves in the region. History The Winton Division was created on 23 September 1886 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''.
