Radio Station
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. Espace 2
Espace 2 is the cultural radio station from the public company, RTS Radio Télévision Suisse and is broadcast in French-speaking Switzerland. Its slogan is "La vie côté culture" (The cultural side of life). Programming consists mainly of classical music and jazz (''JazzZ''), but there are also magazine and discussion programmes on current (''Les Temps qui courante'') and historical topics (''Histoire vivante''), and produces literature programming (''Entre les lignes''). Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha (RTR, en, Radio-Television Romansh Switzerland or Swiss Romansh Radio-Television), formerly known as Radio e Televisiun Rumantscha ( en, Romansh Radio and Television), is a Swiss broadcasting company (part of SRG SSR) which offers programming to Romansh-speakers in Switzerland and around the world. History The first radio program in Romansh was broadcast on 17 January 1925. The person responsible for this broadcast was Felix Huonder. Regular Romansh programming began in 1943. ''Las Cristallas'', the Romansh "radioscola" (radio school, or lectures delivered by radio broadcast), premiered on 27 January 1955. Rete Tre
RSI Rete Tre is the third Italian-language radio station from Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (RSI), aimed at younger listeners broadcasting popular and alternative music. It was launched at 00:03 on 1 January 1988 and is available via FM mainly in the Italian-speaking cantons of Ticino and Graubünden. From 15 October 2009, its range was extended to major cities in German-speaking areas of Switzerland with the implementation of a number of DAB+ digital relays On 1 January 2008, a party was held in the city centre of Lugano, beginning at 0:03, to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the station, with a special song "We Are Rete Tre" (cover of the more famous " We Are the World"). In 2008, in Lugano, a large demonstration was organised for the twentieth anniversary of the station. RSI Rete Due is the second Italian-language radio station from Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (RSI). It was launched in 1985. Its headquarters are at the RSI-building in Lugano-Besso, reaching a daily average of between 26,000 and 28,000 listeners. RSI Rete Uno ( en, Network One) is the principal radio channel of the Swiss public-service broadcasting organization Radio Svizzera Italiana, which launched in 1933 as Radio Monte Ceneri. Broadcasting in Italian, it is receivable throughout Switzerland (as well as southern Germany) via FM, DAB, cable, and satellite. Until 31 June 2008 (when SRG SSR ceased broadcasting on the 558 kHz medium-wave frequency) it could also be received in large areas of northern and central Italy. The station identifies itself on-air as "Radio Svizzera - Rete Uno". Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (; RSI, abbreviated as RTSI until 28 February 2009) is a Swiss public broadcasting organisation, part of SRG SSR. RSI handles production and broadcasting of radio and television programs in Italian for Switzerland ( Italian-speaking Switzerland). RSI's administrative headquarters are located in Via Canevascini in Lugano- Besso. History "Radio svizzera di lingua italiana" was established in 1925 as "Radio Monte Ceneri", originally named after the mountain where the transmitter was placed. After several years of experimental broadcast, in 1933 the "Società svizzera di Radiodiffusione" (Swiss Radio Broadcasting Corporation) began regular transmissions in Ticino and Grigioni.
