Politics of Madagascar takes place in a framework of a semi-presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Madagascar is head of state and the Prime Minister of Madagascar is head of government, and of a pluriform multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Senate and the National Assembly. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Political history Madagascar's first President, Philibert Tsiranana, was elected when his Social Democratic Party gained power at independence in 1960 and was reelected without opposition in March 1972. However, he resigned only 2 months later in response to massive anti-government demonstrations. The unrest continued, and Tsiranana's successor, Gen. Christine Harijaona Razanamahasoa is a Malagasy politician. She served as a Minister of Justice between 2009 and 2013, and as the president of the Malagasy National Assembly from February till May 2014, becoming the first woman in this position. She was elected again on 16 July 2019. Christine Razanamahasoa is a lawyer by education. On 17 March 2009, as a result of 2009 Malagasy political crisis, president Marc Ravalomanana was removed from his position, and the High Transitional Authority, led by Andry Rajoelina, was formed. The High transition authority elected Rajoelina the president of Madagascar, and Albert Camille Vital became the Prime Minister and formed the government. Christine Razanamahasoa became the Minister of Justice in that government. On 28 October 2011, Rajoelina dismissed the government and asked Omer Beriziky to form the new one. Ange (English: Angel) is a French progressive rock band formed in September 1969 by the Décamps brothers, Francis (keyboards) and Christian (vocals, accordion, acoustic guitar and keyboards). Since its inception the band's music has been inspired by medieval texts and fantasy. History Ange was initially influenced by Procol Harum and King Crimson, and their music was quite theatrical and poetic. Their first success in France was the cover of a Jacques Brel song, ''Ces gens-là'', on their second album ''Le Cimetière des Arlequins''. The band provided its first concert on January 30, 1970, at the cultural center "La Pépinière", in Belfort, France.
