List Of Power Stations In Vermont
This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in the U.S. state of Vermont, sorted by type and name. In 2020, Vermont had a total summer capacity of 829 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 2,156 GWh. The corresponding electrical energy generation mix in 2021 was 50% hydroelectric, 25% biomass, 15.7% wind, 8.8% solar photovoltaics, 0.1% fossil fuels, and 0.3% other. Small-scale solar, which includes customer-owned photovoltaic panels, delivered an additional net 187 GWh to the state's electrical grid. This was about equal to the generation by Vermont's utility-scale photovoltaic plants. Vermont's 99.9% share of electricity from renewable sources was the highest in the United States during 2019. Harriman Dam
Harriman Dam is a hydroelectric dam in Windham County, Vermont in the town of Whitingham. The water from the dam flows through a penstock to a power generation plant in the adjacent town of Readsboro. The dam was built in 1923 by the New England Power Company. McIndoes Reservoir
McIndoes Reservoir is a impoundment on the Connecticut River on the boundary between Vermont and New Hampshire in northern New England. The dam forming the reservoir lies between the communities of McIndoe Falls, Vermont, and Monroe, New Hampshire. Monroe Road (Frazier Road) crosses the reservoir north (upstream) of the dam, leading west to U.S. Route 5 in McIndoe Falls and east the same distance to New Hampshire Route 135 in the center of Monroe. The next river crossing upstream is a bridge carrying the North Monroe Road (Barnet Road), north of McIndoe Falls. McIndoe Falls Dam creating the reservoir was built in 1931 as a project of the New England Electric System, along with the nearby Frank D. Comerford Dam.
