This List of pickleball organizations identifies pickleball resources around the world. USA Pickleball USA Pickleball was the first national pickleball organization established. Initially named the United States Amateur Pickleball Association (USAPA) when it was formed in 1984, it reorganized as the USA Pickleball Association (also USAPA) in 2005. The organization adopted the name USA Pickleball (USAP) in 2020. USAPA published the first official rule book in 1984, and published the ''USA Pickleball Association Official Tournament Rulebook'' in 2008. Pickleball
Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor racket/paddle sport where two players (singles), or four players (doubles), hit a perforated hollow polymer ball over a net using solid-faced paddles. Opponents on either side of the net hit the ball back and forth until one side commits a rule infraction. Pickleball was invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game on Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA. In 2022, pickleball was adopted as the official state sport of Washington. The appearance of a pickleball court, and the manner of play, resemble tennis, but the court is the size of a doubles badminton court, less than a third the size of a tennis court. Court lines and rules are specific to pickleball and include two on either side of the net known as the ''non-volley zones'', where the ball cannot be hit with the paddle unless the ball bounces first. International Federation Of Pickleball
The International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) was created to act as the world Sports governing body, governing body for the sport of pickleball. The IFP was founded in 2010 by the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA), now USA Pickleball (USAP). The IFP is a nonprofit organization that focuses its resources on providing support to national and local pickleball organizations. The IFP's goals include creating and maintaining official rules across all of pickleball, organizing international tournaments, and most crucially, spreading the sport of pickleball across the world. The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) is the governing body of Pickleball in India. It functions as a nonprofit organization, providing support to other national and local pickleball organizations, and it organized the ''Amateur Pickleball Federation, India'' as its executive body to conduct pickleball tournaments in India. Established by Mr. Sunil Valavalkar in 2008, in 2015 the AIPA became a founding member of the International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) where Valavalkar serves as Vice President.
