Redding is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 8,765 at the 2020 census. History Early settlement and establishment At the time colonials began receiving grants for land within the boundaries of present-day Redding, Native American trails crossed through portions of the area, including the Berkshire Path running north–south. In 1639, Roger Ludlow (also referenced as Roger Ludlowe in many accounts) purchased land from local Native Americans to establish Fairfield, and in 1668 Fairfield purchased another tract of land then called Northfield, which comprised land that is now part of Redding. John Kirkpatrick (musician)
John Michael Kirkpatrick (born 8 August 1947) is an English player of free reed instruments. In London John Kirkpatrick was born in Chiswick, London, England. As a child he sang in the choir and played piano. In 1959, he joined the Hammersmith Morris Men, in the second week of their existence, beginning a career-long love of folk music. In 1970, he became a regular at a folk club in the Roebuck pub in Tottenham Court Road and led the resident group, Dingle's Chillybom Band. The club hosted a film show of Morris dancing and Ashley Hutchings turned up. It was the beginning of a long musical relationship. In 1972 he teamed up with Ashley and others on the album ''Morris On''. In 1972, Kirkpatrick recorded his first solo album ''Jump at the Sun'' which included Richard Thompson on acoustic guitar. Derek Piotr is a folklorist, vocalist, and composer. Career Piotr released the album ''Agora'' in 2011. In 2012 his work was nominated for Prix Ars Electronica. In 2016, Piotr released the glitch album ''Drono''. ''Forest People Pop'' was released in 2017. His 2018 album ''Grunt'' was completed in collaboration with Kevin Drumm. "Grunt" is the Polish word for "earth" or "dirt". Colleen Zenk is an American actress, best known for her role as Barbara Ryan in the daytime TV drama ''As the World Turns'', a role she played from September 1978 until the show ended in September 2010. Frederick R. Newman (born May 6, 1952) is an American actor, comedian, composer, SFX artist using his voice, and former talk show host. Career Newman's first job in New York City was at ''Newsweek''. Joel Barlow High School
Joel Barlow High School is a public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in Redding, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. The school serves Easton and Redding students. The school is the sole institution in the Region 9 School District of Connecticut, made up of the towns of Redding and Easton, which each have their own public school systems for education up to the eighth grade. The Board of Education acts as its own Board of Finance, and although it reports to the boards of finance in both towns, they have no control over the school budget. Each year a referendum is held on the school budget and must be passed by a majority of voters in the two towns. As of the 2015-16 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,008 students and 71.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.1:1. Enoch Light
Enoch Henry Light (August 18, 1907 – July 31, 1978) was an American classically trained violinist, danceband leader, and recording engineer. As the leader of various dance bands that recorded as early as March 1927 and continuing through at least 1940, Light and his band primarily worked in various hotels in New York. For a time in 1928 he also led a band in Paris. In the 1930s Light also studied conducting with the French conductor Maurice Frigara in Paris.
