Bend is a city in and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is the principal city of the Bend Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bend is Central Oregon's largest city, with a population of 99,178 at the time of the 2020 U.S. Census, up from 76,693 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census, and 52,029 at the 2000 United States Census, 2000 census. Ashton James Eaton (born January 21, 1988) is a retired American decathlete and two-time Olympic champion, who holds the world record in the indoor heptathlon event. Kiki Cutter
Christina "Kiki" Cutter (born July 24, 1949) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. She was the first American to win a World Cup event, a slalom race in Oslo, Norway, on February 25, 1968. Although Cutter competed on the World Cup circuit for less than three years, her five career victories led the U.S. alpine team for eleven years, surpassed by Phil Mahre in 1979. Adam Craig (born August 15, 1981, in Bangor, Maine) is a professional mountain biker currently living in Bend, Oregon. Originally from Corinth, Maine, Craig was educated at the University of Maine. He is a three-time Under 23 Cross-country National Champion, 2007 and 2008 National Champion, and represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Kent Couch
Kent Couch is an American cluster balloonist who drew international interest for his flights across the state of Oregon. Cluster balloon flights Couch, a 47-year-old gas station owner, first flew in July 2007 riding a lawnchair elevated by 105 large helium balloons. Using amateur instruments to measure altitude and speed, a GPS device to track his location, and 5 gallons (19 litres) of water for ballast, he controlled his descent by releasing water. The flight began in Bend, Oregon and ended in Union, short of Couch's goal of reaching Idaho. Couch began another flight at dawn on Saturday, July 5, 2008.
