Daniel Boone (also known as Peter Lee Stirling, born Peter Charles Green; 31 July 1942, in Birmingham, England) is an English pop musician who became a one-hit wonder in the United States with the single "Beautiful Sunday" in 1972. The song was written by Boone and Rod McQueen and sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide. It peaked at number 15 on The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at the end of the summer of 1972, having already reached number 21 on the UK Singles Chart earlier during that same year. In 1972, Boone was the recipient of the "Most Likeable Singer" award from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. "Beautiful Sunday" is a song written by Daniel Boone and Rod McQueen (real name David Balfe), and performed by Daniel Boone. It appeared on his 1972 album ''Beautiful Sunday'' and was produced by Larry Page and arranged by Boone. It has been described as the biggest international hit in the British bubblegum pop genre. Robin Carmody of ''Freaky Trigger'' praised the song for its "timelessly, wonderfully obvious chord sequence" and euphoric tone, "without any hint that driving to and from your day's pleasure and relaxation might even contain anything sexual, let alone anything depressing, tedious and ugly." He named it the greatest British bubblegum pop song, deeming it "a neo-folk song structure of almost religious, redemptive simplicity / sublimity. Grupo Yndio is a Mexican band from Sonora founded in 1972, by some of the members of the dissolute Los Pulpos. The band is known for Spanish covers of English-language pop hits, but with a distinctive Grupero style. Their best known hits include "Melodía desencadenada", "Línea telefónica" and "Herida de amor," Spanish covers of "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers, "Telephone Line" by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and "Love Hurts" by Nazareth respectively. Los Strwck (pronounced "strook") is a Mexican musical group, founded in 1966. Led by Elbert Moguel, they originated from Guadalajara, Jalisco Their biggest hits include the ballads "Él", "Dilo tú", "Quién" and "Recuerdo estudiantil". They mainly made rock and roll, ballad, and cumbia music. The group was initially called "Fuego" ("Fire") and later "Los Extraños" ("The Strangers"), but they often met with difficulties because there were already other groups with those names. Because of this, Moguel came up with the notorious "Strwck" name after deciding that he wanted to create a name that had no vowel letters, and therefore a word that wouldn't exist in any language and that wasn't already the name of any other group. Peerless Records was a record label based in Mexico. Peerless was founded in 1921 in Mexico City by E. Baptista. Early pressings of their gramophone record were made under contract by Gennett Records. By 1933, Peerless was pressing its own records in Mexico. The Peerless label mostly released popular Mexican music; some popular dance bands and tunes from the United States of America also appeared on Peerless in the 1920s. In addition to Mexico, Peerless Records were sold in other parts of Latin America and in some communities in the Southwest United States. The labels sometimes have text in both English and Spanish. Los Freddy's (or Los Freddys) were a Mexican musical group, founded in 1962 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The group was one of the most popular Mexican ensembles of the 1960s and 1970s. Early in their careers, the group earned popularity by playing cover songs of popular English-language songs (such as Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs' "Wooly Bully" and The Beatles' "Penny Lane") that were translated into Spanish; beginning in the 70s, the band established themselves throughout Latin America as one of the top bands with a string of successful original slow ballads and grupera songs. Artemios "Demis" Ventouris-Roussos ( ; el, Αρτέμιος "Ντέμης" Βεντούρης-Ρούσσος, ; 15 June 1946 – 25 January 2015) was a Greek singer, songwriter and musician.
