The ''Billboard'' Regional Mexican Albums chart, published in ''Billboard'' magazine, is a record chart that features Latin music sales information. This data are compiled by Nielsen SoundScan from a sample that includes music stores, music departments at electronics and department stores, Internet sales (both physical and digital) and verifiable sales from concert venues in the United States. The data for this chart was published every two weeks, unlike most ''Billboard'' charts. The Regional Mexican Albums chart was first of the three Latin-related albums (along with Latin Pop Albums and Tropical Albums) published on June 29, 1985, eight years before the Top Latin Album survey which began on July 10, 1993. The Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album was an award presented to recording artists for quality albums in the Mexican music genre at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards. Honors in several categories are presented at the ceremony annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position". Since its inception, the award category has had several name changes. From 1984 to 1991 the award was known as Best Mexican-American Performance. From 1992 to 1994 it was awarded as Best Mexican-American Album. In 1995 it returned to the title Best Mexican-American Performance. Antonio Aguilar Barraza
José Pascual Antonio Aguilar Márquez Barraza (17 May 191919 June 2007) was a Mexican singer, actor, songwriter, equestrian, film producer, and screenwriter with a dominating career in music. He recorded over 150 albums, which sold 25 million copies, and acted in more than 120 films. He was given the honorific nickname "''El Charro de México''" (Mexico's Horseman) because he is credited with popularizing the Mexican equestrian sport '' la charrería'' to international audiences. Aguilar began his career singing on the Mexican radio station XEW in 1950. That year, he signed a contract with the Mexican independent label Musart Records and became one of its best-selling artists. Los Yonics
Los Yonic's (or Los Yonics) are a Mexican Grupero band formed in 1975. Los Yonic's began playing together in San Luis San Pedro but later moved to Acapulco, playing both tropical pop music and ballads. Their music became very popular among American Hispanics in cities such as Los Angeles, San Jose, Phoenix, Arizona, and El Paso. They had a string of #1 albums on the Billboard Regional Mexican charts in the 1980s, and have continued to enjoy chart success on the American market since. Los Caminantes are a Mexican Grupera band hailing from San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato led by singer-songwriter Agustín Ramírez. Originally called Los Caminantes Aztecas, the group was formed in San Bernardino County, California by brothers: Agustín, Brígido, Horacio and Bernardo Ramírez in the mid-1970s.
