Baraboo is a city in the Midwest and the county seat of Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The largest city in the county, Baraboo is the principal city of the Baraboo Micropolitan Statistical Area. Its 2020 population was 12,556. It is situated on the Baraboo River. The ''Boscobel Dial'' is a weekly newspaper based in Boscobel, Wisconsin and printed in Lancaster, Wisconsin. It publishes Thursday and is owned by Morris Multimedia. History The newspaper was first published in 1872. In 1956, the ''Dial'' was bought by reporter and editor Ralph Goldsmith, who ran it with his wife until selling it in 1992. On its sale, Goldsmith cited his son's reluctance to follow him into the business. Goldsmith was entered into the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2002. The paper was sold by William Hale to Morris Multimedia in 2002 as one paper in a seven paper deal. Black Earth is a village in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,338 at the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Black Earth. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1851, the town board renamed the town Farmersville, but the name Black Earth was readopted in 1857. Berlin is a city in Green Lake and Waushara counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,571 at the 2020 census. Of this, 5,435 were in Green Lake County, and only 89 were in Waushara County. The city is located mostly within the Town of Berlin in Green Lake County, with a small portion extending into the Town of Aurora in Waushara County. History In 1845, Nathan H. Beloit is a city in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 36,657 people. History Twelve men in Colebrook, New Hampshire, created the "New England Emigrating Company" in October 1836 and sent Horace White to find a suitable region of Wisconsin in which to settle. The level fields and the water power of Turtle Creek and "unlimited gravel" in the area around what is now Beloit fixed the site of the village and farms. White purchased the land. At the same time as the Colebrook settlers, six families from Bedford, New Hampshire, arrived and settled in the region. Beaver Dam is a city in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States, along Beaver Dam Lake and the Beaver Dam River. The population was 16,708 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city primarily located in Dodge County. It is the principal city of the Beaver Dam Micropolitan Statistical area.
