It is one of the oldest continuously operating newspapers in Victoria, second in age only to the ''Geelong Advertiser''. The paper is now published by Fairfax Media. History With the Liverpool printing industry facing periodic unemployment and worsening industrial conditions, formally trained printers and stationers Jabez Walter Banfield and James Gearing emigrated to Australia in search of gold. The ''Alexandra, Eildon, Marysville Standard'' is published by Alexandra Newspapers in Victoria, Australia. The newspaper was first published biweekly as the ''Alexandra Times'' by John Whitelaw on 2 June 1868. The Leader Community Newspaper group publishes 20 digital titles covering metropolitan Melbourne. The group was downsized in 2016 and in 2020.
