The ''Ajo Copper News'' is a weekly community newspaper serving western Pima County, Arizona. It has been published since 1916 in Ajo, Arizona. Ahwatukee Foothills (also Ahwatukee) is an urban village of Phoenix, Arizona. Ahwatukee forms the southernmost portion of Phoenix, and is considered part of the East Valley region of the Phoenix metropolitan area. In 2022, ''Niche'' rated Ahwatukee "#1 in Best Neighborhoods to Live in Phoenix." History Prior to the area's development into the community it is known today, the name "Ahwatukee" referred, at times, to a since-demolished house that sat in an area near Sequoia Trails and Appaloosa Drive, west of the Warner-Elliot Loop. Beginnings At least two major thoroughfares in today's Ahwatukee are named after people who claimed lands in the area, in the decades following the signing of the Homestead Act in 1862. Its education and sports coverage mainly revolves around the two high schools serving the district: Mountain Pointe High School and Desert Vista High School (both part of the Tempe Union High School District). Lake Havasu City (, ) is a city in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 57,144, up from 52,527 in 2010. It is served by Lake Havasu City Airport. History The community first started as an Army Air Corps rest camp, called "Site Six" during World War II, on the shores of Lake Havasu. In 1958, American businessman Robert P. McCulloch purchased of property on the east side of the lake along Pittsburgh Point, the peninsula that eventually would be transformed into "the Island". After four years of planning, McCulloch Properties acquired another of federal land in the surrounding area. The ''Herald Review'' is a newspaper printed in Sierra Vista, Arizona, United States. Most of its circulation goes to Sierra Vista, Huachuca City, Hereford, Palominas, and Fort Huachuca. It is also circulated in Bisbee. History Ky Richards Jr. and his wife, Lois Richards, originally from Hawaii, started printing the ''Huachuca Herald'' on Fridays starting October 7, 1955. They put out the first editions on a typewriter, composing stories on their kitchen table. On October 8, 1967, the couple started printing the paper twice a week. At that time, the newspaper hit the streets on Sundays and Wednesdays. On May 22, 1968, the couple sold the newspaper to Sig H. Atkinson of Chandler and Milton I.
