Artipelag
Artipelag is an art museum located on the Stockholm archipelago, archipelago in Stockholm, Sweden. Opened in June 2012, the building was designed by the late architect Johan Nyrén to fit into the surrounding landscape. The building covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and includes 3,000 square meters of art galleries and has 22 acres of surrounding natural scenery. According to ''The New York Times'', the museum was the "brainchild of Björn Jakobson, who founded the Swedish infant-care products company Babybjörn in 1961, and his wife, Lillemor." The parent company Lillemor Design provided funding (approximately $69 million according to estimates in Swedish media. Notable exhibitions have included works by William Wegman (photographer), William Wegman and Candida Höfer. The artistic director of Artipelag is Bo Nilsson. Biological Museum (Stockholm)
Biologiska museet is a museum located in Djurgården in Stockholm. It exhibits a collection of stuffed European birds and mammals in dioramas. Some of the diorama backgrounds were created by artist Bruno Liljefors, known for his dramatic paintings of Scandinavian wildlife. The museum was built in 1893 after a design by architect Agi Lindegren who was inspired by medieval Norwegian stave churches. Stockholm Observatory
The Stockholm Observatory ( sv, Stockholms observatorium, 050) is an astronomical observatory and institution in Stockholm, Sweden, founded in the 18th century and today part of Stockholm University. In 1931, the new Stockholm Observatory ( sv, Saltsjöbaden Observatory, 052), nicknamed "Saltis", was inaugurated on the Karlsbaderberget at Saltsjöbaden, near Stockholm, and operated until 2001. There are records of daily weather observations from the observatory going back to 1754. Jewish Museum Of Sweden
The Jewish Museum (in Swedish: Judiska Museet) in Stockholm, Sweden, is devoted to objects and environments related to Jewish religion, tradition, and history, particularly in connection to Judaism in Sweden. The Jewish Museum was founded by Viola and Aron Neuman in 1987, in an old rug warehouse in Frihamnen. Maritime Museum (Stockholm)
The Maritime Museum ( sv, Sjöhistoriska museet) in Stockholm, Sweden is a museum for naval history, merchant shipping and shipbuilding. Located in the Gärdet section of the inner-city district Östermalm, the museum offers a panoramic view of the bay Djurgårdsbrunnsviken. The building was designed by architect Ragnar Östberg and built in 1933–36. Swedish Army Museum
The Swedish Army Museum ( sv, Armémuseum) is a museum of military history located in the district of Östermalm in Stockholm. It reopened in 2002 after a long period of closure, and was awarded the title of the best museum of Stockholm in 2005.
