Until December 31, 2006, Denmark was divided into 13 Counties of Denmark, counties (''Amt (subnational entity), amter''), and 270 municipalities (''Commune (subnational entity), kommuner''). Purhus Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Purhus municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 169 km2, and had a total population of 8,547 (2005). Its last mayor was Berner Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Fårup. Purhus municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Nørhald, Randers, and a portion of each of the following municipalities— Langå, Mariager, and Sønderhald— to form an enlarged Randers municipality. Odder Municipality
Odder Municipality is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in the Central Denmark Region on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in Central Denmark south of Aarhus. It is a part of the greater Aarhus area. The municipality covers an area of 225.04 km², including the islands of Alrø and Tunø. It borders Aarhus Municipality to the north, Skanderborg Municipality to the north-west and Horsens Municipality to the west. It also connects to Hedensted Municipality across Horsens Fjord to the south, and connects to Samsø Municipality through a ferry route. Odder Municipality was not merged with any adjacent municipality under the municipal reform of 2007. Nørre Djurs Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Nørre Djurs municipality ("Northern Djursland") was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 237 km², and had a total population of 7.663 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Jellesen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal-council was the town of Glesborg. Other towns in the municipality were the beach towns of Bønnerup Strand, Fjellerup Strand, and Gjerrild Nordstrand, and the towns of Stokkebro and Voldby. Mariager Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Mariager municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 201 km², and had a total population of 8,300 (2005). Its last mayor was Erik Kirkegaard Mikkelsen, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Mariager. Mariager municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). Part of it was merged with existing Arden, Hadsund, and Hobro municipalities to form the new Mariagerfjord municipality.
