List Of Municipalities In Álava
Álava-Araba is a province in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, Spain. It is divided into 51 municipalities. According to the 2011 Spanish Census, the province is the 41st largest by population with inhabitants but is the 48th largest by land area spanning . Each municipality forms part of a province which in turn forms part or the whole of an autonomous community. The organisation of the municipalities is governed by a 2 April 1985 law, completed by the 18 April 1986 royal decree. The Statutes of Autonomy of the various autonomous communities also contain provisions concerning the relations between the municipalities and the autonomous governments. In general, municipalities enjoy a large degree of autonomy in their local affairs: many of the functions of the ''comarcas'' and provinces are municipal powers pooled together. Artziniega
Artziniega (Artzainaga) ( es, link=no, Arceniega) is a town and municipality in the province of Álava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain. Located in the northwest of Araba, on the border with Burgos, Castile and León and Biscay, it was at the junction between the old Kingdom of Castile and the ports of the Bay of Biscay. The town probably derives its name from the Basque "Artzain-aga," meaning "place of shepherds." Añana or Salinas de Añana ( eu, Gesaltza Añana) is both a valley and municipality located in the province of Álava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain, with the main population nucleus being the village of Salinas de Añana. Moreover, Añana is also the name of one of the seven counties in which the province of Álava is divided. The town is renowned for its old salt flats, which were formed beginning in the Triassic Period. Amurrio is a town and municipality located in the northwest part of the province of Álava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain. It has over 10,000 inhabitants. It is between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao, respectively to 41 km and 31 km.
