Mountain
A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock. Although definitions vary, a mountain may differ from a plateau in having a limited Summit (topography), summit area, and is usually higher than a hill, typically rising at least 300 metres (1,000 feet) above the surrounding land. A few mountains are Monadnock, isolated summits, but most occur in mountain ranges. Mountain formation, Mountains are formed through Tectonic plate, tectonic forces, erosion, or volcanism, which act on time scales of up to tens of millions of years. Once mountain building ceases, mountains are slowly leveled through the action of weathering, through Slump (geology), slumping and other forms of mass wasting, as well as through erosion by rivers and glaciers. High elevations on mountains produce Alpine climate, colder climates than at sea level at similar latitude. These colder climates strongly affect the Montane ecosystems, ecosys ...

Canuck Peak
''Canuck'' is a slang term for a Canadian. The origins of the word are uncertain. The term ''Kanuck'' is first recorded in 1835 as an Americanism, originally referring to Dutch Canadians (which included German Canadians) or French Canadians. By the 1850s, the spelling with a "C" became predominant. Today, many Canadians and others use ''Canuck'' as a mostly affectionate term for any Canadian. Origin Although its etymology is unclear, possible origins include: * ''kanata'', "village" (see name of Canada) * ''Can''ada + -''uc'' ( Algonquian noun suffix) * ''Kanaka'', derived from the Hawaiian '' Kanaka''. Usage and examples Canadians use ''Canuck'' as an affectionate or merely descriptive term for their nationality. If familiar with the term, most citizens of other nations, including the United States, also use it affectionately, though there are individuals who may use it as derogatory term. Calx Mountain
Calx is a substance formed from an ore or mineral that has been heated. Calx, especially of a metal, is now known as an oxide. According to the obsolete phlogiston theory, the calx was the true elemental substance, having lost its phlogiston in the process of combustion. "Calx" is also sometimes used in older texts on artist's techniques to mean calcium oxide. Etymology Calx is Latin for chalk or limestone, from the Greek χάλιξ (''khaliks'', “pebble”). It is not to be confused with the Latin homonym meaning heelbone (or calcaneus in modern medical Latin), which has an entirely separate derivation. Cable Mountain
Cable Mountain is a elevation Navajo Sandstone summit located in Zion National Park, in Washington County of southwest Utah, United States. Towering above the floor of Zion Canyon at the Big Bend area, Cable Mountain is situated immediately northeast of The Great White Throne, separated by the chasm of Hidden Canyon. It is set on the east side of the North Fork Virgin River which drains precipitation runoff from this mountain. Its neighbors include Angels Landing, Cathedral Mountain, The Organ, and Observation Point. This mountain's name was officially adopted in 1934 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. It is so named in association with the draw-works which used cables to lower timber from the top of the plateau down to the valley bottom from 1901 through 1927. Wood to construct the Zion Lodge came down the cable works. A 7.4-mile trail, much of it an old wagon road, leads to the views from the top.Greg Witt, ''50 Best Short Hikes Utah's National Parks'', 2nd Edition, W ...
