Qawra Tower
Qawra Tower ( mt, Torri tal-Qawra), also known as Qawra Point Tower ( mt, Torri ta' Ras il-Qawra) or Fra Ben Tower ( mt, Torri ta' Fra Ben), is a small watchtower in Qawra, limits of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. It was completed in 1638 as the fourth of the Lascaris towers. An artillery battery was built around the tower in 1715. Today, the tower and battery are a restaurant. History Qawra Tower was built in 1638 near the tip of Qawra Point, commanding the entrance to St. Paul's Bay to the west and Salina Bay to the east. It was built on or near the site of a medieval watch post. Since 1659, it has Għallis Tower in its line of sight. This linked Qawra Tower with the De Redin towers that allowed communication from Gozo to Valletta. Perellos Redoubt
Perellos Redoubt ( mt, Ridott ta' Perellos) was a redoubt in Salina Bay, limits of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. It was built by the Order of Saint John in 1715-1716 as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the coasts of the Maltese Islands. It was demolished after the Second World War. History Perellos Redoubt was built between 1715 and 1716 as part of the Order of Saint John's first building program of coastal fortifications. It was one of two redoubts defending Salina Bay. The redoubt on the other side of the bay, known as Ximenes Redoubt, is still intact. The redoubt was named after Grand Master Ramon Perellos y Roccaful. The redoubt consisted of a pre-existing ''mandrague'' which was converted into a blockhouse, and a rectangular enclosure with a high parapet wall designed to protect infantrymen. Buġibba Battery
Buġibba Battery ( mt, Batterija ta' Buġibba), also known as Elbene Battery ( mt, Batterija ta' Bileben), was an artillery battery in Buġibba, limits of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. It was built in the 18th century, by the Order of St. John, as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the coasts of the Maltese islands. The battery no longer exists, but its rock-hewn ditch and some foundations can still be noticed. History Buġibba Battery was built in the 18th century during one of the building programmes of coastal batteries in Malta. Sources conflict as to whether it was built in 1715–16, or sometime between 1747 and 1784. Dellia Battery ( mt, Batterija tad-Dellija), also known as Vendôme Battery ( mt, Batterija ta' Vendôme) or Pwales Right Battery ( mt, Batterija tal-Lemin tal-Pwales), was an artillery battery in Xemxija Bay, limits of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. It was built by the Order of Saint John in 1715 as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the coasts of the Maltese Islands. It was demolished in 1924, but the coats of arms and inscription which were located above the main entrance still exist and are now a monument. Qawra
Qawra ( mt, Il-Qawra, ) is a zone within St. Paul's Bay in the Northern Region, Malta, Northern Region, Malta. It is located close to Buġibba and Salina, Malta, Salina, and it is a popular tourist resort, containing many hotels and restaurants. In around 1638, the Knights Hospitaller, Order of St. John built Qawra Tower at Qawra Point. A Artillery battery, battery was built around it in 1715, while an entrenchment wall was added in the 1760s. Palazzo Pescatore is a palace in St. Paul's Bay, Malta. It was built in the late 19th century. Its symmetrical porticoed façades of neo-classical inspiration are similar to those of Palazzo Dragonara in St. Julian's. Architecture The building is two stories tall. Some of the decorations are recent additions. The interior of Palazzo Pescatore was greatly altered during its use as a nightclub. Buġibba
Buġibba (English pronunciation: ) is a zone within St. Paul's Bay in the Northern Region, Malta. It is situated adjacent to Qawra, and it is a popular tourist resort, containing numerous hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, and a casino. History During the Tarxien phase of Maltese prehistory, a small temple was built in what is now Buġibba. The temple was excavated between the 1920s and 1950s, and it is now located in the grounds of a hotel. Buġibba Temple
Buġibba Temple is a megalithic temple on the border of Buġibba and Qawra towns, limits of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. A hotel was built on the grounds of the temple. Site The temple is located a short distance from the coast, between Buġibba and Qawra Point. It was built during the Tarxien phase of Maltese prehistory. The temple is quite small, and part of its coralline limestone façade can still be seen. From the trilithon entrance, a corridor leads to a central area which contains three apses. Part of the temple's floor has also survived at the back of the site. The rest of the structure was destroyed over the years, as the area was leveled due to being used for agricultural purposes.
