Virginian And Ohio
The Virginian and Ohio is both the name of a fictional railroad company created by W. Allen McClelland (1934-2022) and the HO scale model railroad he built near Dayton, Ohio featuring this railroad. The V&O is famous in the model railroading world for setting a new standard for freelanced (fictional) model railroads designed to operate in a prototypical manner and was a major influence upon many model railroaders of the time. He used the words "beyond the basement" and "transportation system" to reinforce the idea of moving freight from shippers and industries beyond the confines of the limited model railroad geography and layout you had in your basement. This required the notion of interchange with other (model) railroads as well. The Adobe Mountain Desert Park a.k.a. "The Railroad Park" is a park complex that houses the Sahuaro Central Railroad Heritage preservation Society, Sahuaro Central Railroad Museum, Arizona Model Railroading Society, and the Maricopa Live Steamers. The approximately 160-acre Adobe Mountain Desert Railroad Park is located south of Pinnacle Peak Road on 43rd Avenue in the City of Glendale, Arizona. The Model Railroad Club Of Toronto
The Model Railroad Club of Toronto (MRCT) is an O scale model railroad club founded in 1938 by Harry Ebert and Borden Lilley. History Originally located in founder Ebert's basement, the MRCT soon moved to new premises at Toronto's Union Station. After World War II, the railways annexed the space the Club occupied and in January 1946, the Club moved to premises in the basement of 171 East Liberty Street in what is now part of Toronto's Liberty Village neighbourhood. Since the mid-1960s the Club has built and operated its layout as the Central Ontario Railway. Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society
The Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society was formed in 1948 and built a miniature railway along a drainage channel behind houses on Anthony Road, West Ryde, Sydney, Australia. The site has been transformed by the addition of fill from excavation work during widening of the local railway line and the society has grown and now operates a miniature railway on the site with a 400m long elevated track of 2 inch, 3 inch and 5 inch gauge, and two 300m long ground level 5 inch railways. The Society operates miniature steam locomotives which represent prototype engines of the New South Wales Government Railways and other states. The Gotthard railway (german: Gotthardbahn; it, Ferrovia del Gottardo) is the Swiss trans-alpine railway line from northern Switzerland to the canton of Ticino. The Swiss Museum of Transport or Verkehrshaus der Schweiz (literally "Transportation House of Switzerland") in Lucerne opened in July 1959 and exhibits all forms of transport including trains, automobiles, ships and aircraft as well as communication technology. EnterTRAINment Junction is an indoor model railroad display located in West Chester Township, Ohio. This 25,000 square foot display consists of over 90 G-scale trains encompassing the early era of American railroading, the middle era, and the modern era. The facility also includes the American Railroading Museum, an expo center, and a fun house. The display takes its name from an O gauge layout that existed in the Mall of America from 1992 to 2000.
