Otis Air National Guard Base is an Air National Guard installation located within Joint Base Cape Cod, a military training facility located on the western portion of Cape Cod in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. It was known as Otis Air Force Base prior to its transfer from the active duty Air Force to the Air National Guard. In the local community, it is more commonly known as Otis Air Base or simply Otis. It was named in honor of pilot and Boston surgeon Lt. Frank "Jesse" Otis. Today major units include the Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Coast Guard Base Cape Cod and the 102nd Intelligence Wing. United States Coast Guard Station Point Allerton is a United States Coast Guard station located in Hull, Massachusetts. The station is a sub-unit of Sector Boston. It traces its roots back to the U.S. Lifesaving Station and the Massachusetts Humane Society. Its assets include the Motor Life Boat (MLB), the Coast Guard's primary heavy-weather boat used for search and rescue as well as law enforcement and homeland security, and Response Boat – Small (RB-S), a high-speed boat, for a variety of missions, including search and rescue, port security and law enforcement duties. Gale of 1898 Portland Gale was an intense storm causing many vessels in the area at anchor, and transiting in and out of Boston to be in distress. Point Allerton responded to many of these distressed vessels and thus saved many lives under the lead of Joshua James (1826–1902), Hull's most famous lifesaver, who became the first Keeper of the Pt. Coast Guard Station Merrimack River
United States Coast Guard Station Merrimack River is a United States Coast Guard station located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. It is one of the 20 surf stations in the Coast Guard. Its primary missions include search and rescue and law enforcement. The stations current complement is roughly 30 personnel, two 47-foot Motor lifeboats, and a 29-foot response boat-small. As of 2021, the station is commanded by a Master Chief Boatswains Mate, and encompasses solely enlisted personnel. It is manned at all times by a search and rescue/law enforcement team that is capable of responding to maritime emergencies in nearly all weather conditions. Coast Guard Station Menemsha
United States Coast Guard Station Menemsha is a United States Coast Guard station located in Menemsha, Massachusetts, within the town of Chilmark. Primarily a Search and Rescue unit, other activities include Law Enforcement in commercial fisheries and recreational boating safety. The unit is classified as a Heavy Weather Station, capable of operating in up to 20 foot seas and 50 knots wind. The United States Life-Saving Service (a forerunner to the Coast Guard) established a station at Gay Head in 1895. In 1952, the Coast Guard station located at Cuttyhunk was moved by barge to Menemsha, replacing the Gay Head station. The station was not renamed Menemsha, however, until 1974. In July 2010, a fire destroyed the boat house as well as damaged other buildings and the dock at the station. Coast Guard Station Gloucester
United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester is a United States Coast Guard station located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It is located on Harbor Loop on the Mainland. The first successful US Coast Guard Air Station was CGAS Ten Pound Island in Gloucester Harbor, which operated from 1925 to 1935. The station has three assets: two 47′ MLB and an RBS2. In order to respond to "SAR" search and rescue in heavy weather the 47 MLB is utilized. Gloucester's "AOR" (area of responsibility) also includes narrow rivers and harbors, which the RBS is utilized over the 47 to gain entry into shallow waters. Many books and movies have revolved around the station, most notably; "10 Hours Until Dawn" and the story of ''Andrea Gail'' and her crew was the basis of the 1997 book '' The Perfect Storm'' by Sebastian Junger, and a 2000 film. Coast Guard Base Boston
United States Coast Guard Base Boston is located in the North End, Boston, Massachusetts. It is home to a number of cutters, including the , , USCGC ''Marlin'' (WPB-87304), USCGC ''Pendant'' (WYTL-65608) and , along with other small fleet units. The small boat station located on the base was re-opened in 2003 after being closed in 1996. It is also home to Flotilla 5-3 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. On 1 March 2021, the United States Department of Homeland Security solicited bids for base modifications to accommodate six new fast response cutters there. The Coast Guard is expected to take delivery of the first two of these cutters, USCGC ''William Chadwick'' (WPC-1150) and USCGC ''Warren Deyampert'' (WPC-1151), in the second half of 2022.
