The List of members from the fifth term of the Assembly of Experts. ( fa, فهرست نمایندگان دوره پنجم مجلس خبرگان رهبری, Fehreste nâmâyandegân dore panjom majles-e khobregân-e rahbari) consists of names of the members during the fifth and current term of the Assembly of Experts from 2016 to 2024. Elections for the Assembly of Experts occurs every 8 years. "Assembly of experts (of the Leadership)", or the "Council of Experts" is the deliberative body empowered to appoint and dismiss the Supreme Leader of Iran; and Seyyed Ali Khamenei is the current Supreme Leader of Iran. Assembly Of Experts
The Assembly of Experts ( fa, مجلس خبرگان رهبری, majles-e khobregân-e rahbari), also translated as the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership or as the Council of Experts, is the deliberative body empowered to appoint the Supreme Leader of Iran. All directly elected members must first be vetted by the Guardian Council. All candidates to the Assembly of Experts must be approved by the Guardian Council whose members are, in turn, appointed either directly or indirectly by the Supreme Leader. The Assembly consists of 88 Mujtahids that are elected(see Article 108 of the constitution) from lists of thoroughly vetted candidates (in 2016 166 candidates were approved by the Guardians out of 801 who applied to run for the office), by direct public vote for eight-year terms. The number of members has ranged from 82 elected in 1982 to 88 elected in 2016. Current laws require the assembly to meet at least twice every six months. Kazem Nourmofidi
Seyed Kazem Noor Mofidi ( fa, سید کاظم نورمفیدی, born 1940) is a Supreme Leader's representative in Golestan Province, the leader of congregational Friday prayers of Gorgan, and a member of the Assembly of Experts in Iran. He is considered the oldest Friday prayer leader in the country and the only representative of the reformist Supreme Leader in Iran. Zaynolabideen Ghorbani
Sheikh Zaynolabideen Ghorbani , (born 1933) is an Iranian Ayatollah. He represented the Supreme Leader of Iran for Gilan Province, as well as leading prayers in Lahijan and Rasht. He represented the people in Gilan for both the Assembly of Experts (since 1990), and Islamic Consultative Assembly (from 1984 to 1988). Personal life and education Ghorbani was born in a village called Panchah, Gilan province in 1933. He lost his father, Gholam Hassan, at the age of 5. They were a family involved in agriculture, and Ghorbani would help his family with farm work as well as attending school. He has 10 children, 7 sons and 3 daughters. Reza Ramezani ( fa, رضا رمضانی گیلانی) (* 1963 in Rasht, Northern Iran) is a Twelver Shia Muslim cleric with the religious Rank Ayatollah. He has been a member of the Expert Council (Assembly of Experts) in the Islamic Republic of Iran since 2006. Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Asghar Dastgheib ( fa, سید علی‌اصغر دستغیب) (born 1945) is an Iranian Twelver Shia Marja and member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts. He was among those who advised Ruhollah Khomeini in probate matters. Biography He was born in December 1945 in Shiraz, Iran. He is the son of Ali Akbar Dastgheib and grandson of Ayatollah Hidayatullah Shirazi. He graduated from Shahpur Shiraz seminary and for higher education went to Qom Seminary. Assad-Allah Imani
Assad-Allah Imani ( fa, اسد‌الله ایمانی), (or Asadullah Imani) (1947 – 7 May 2018) was an Iranian Twelver Shia scholar, who was a member of assembly of experts, and also the Imam of Prayer in Shiraz. Family and life Assad-Allah Imani was born in the city of Kazeroun ( Fars province) in a religious family, and his family were known of "professing Islam". Ahmad Beheshti
Sheikh Ahmad Beheshti , (born 1935) is an Iranian Ayatollah. He was the president of Qom University. He represented the people of Fars Province in the first and second terms in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, as well as the third, fourth, and fifth terms of the Assembly of Experts.
