Ann Kao
Ann Kao Hung-an (; born 25 January 1984) is a Taiwanese business executive and politician. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees from National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University, respectively, before working as a researcher for the Institute for Information Industry. The institute subsidized Kao's doctoral study at the University of Cincinnati. She then worked for Foxconn until 2020, when she was elected to the Legislative Yuan as a member of the Taiwan People's Party. Partway through her legislative term, Kao was elected Mayor of Hsinchu during the 2022 local election cycle. Early life and career Kao was born on 25 January 1984 in Taipei. Lin Chih-chien
Lin Chih-chien (; born 27 May 1975) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Mayor of Hsinchu City from 25 December 2014 to 8 July 2022. Early life and education Lin earned his bachelor's degree in business administration followed by a master's degree in technology management from Chung Hua University's College of Management in 2008. In 2017, he obtained a second master's degree from National Taiwan University's Graduate Institute of National Development, where his thesis discussed the 2014 Hsinchu mayoral elections. Both master's degrees were rescinded by the respective institutions after investigations confirmed that Lin had plagiarized his theses for the two degrees. Hsu Ming-tsai (; born 13 June 1953) is a Taiwanese politician. He served as the mayor of Hsinchu City from 20 December 2009 until 25 December 2014. James Tsai, also known as Tsai Jen-chien (; born 27 October 1952) is a Taiwanese politician who served as mayor of Hsinchu from 1997 to 2001. Political career A cofounder of the Democratic Progressive Party, Tsai served on the National Assembly from 1992 to 1997, and was the DPP caucus leader throughout his term. The legislative body elected its first speaker and deputy speaker during its 1996 session. Tsai was nominated as the DPP candidate for the deputy speakership, and lost to Shieh Lung-sheng.
