This is a list of lighthouses in Egypt, which are located along both the Mediterranean and Red Sea coastlines of this North African country. The list includes active maritime lighthouses that are named landfall lights, or that have a range of at least fifteen nautical miles. Egypt ( ar, مصر , ), officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a transcontinental country spanning the northeast corner of Africa and southwest corner of Asia via a land bridge formed by the Sinai Peninsula. Ras Muhammad
Ras Mohammad ( arz, راس محمد ', ; ar, رأس محمد ') is a national park in Egypt at the southern extreme of the Sinai Peninsula, Sinai Peninsula, overlooking the Gulf of Suez on the west and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. History When the Sinai Peninsula was returned to Egypt, Ras Muhammad was declared for protection from fishing and other human activities. Some of the fishing methods, such as using dynamite and knives were also impacting on the coral reef and the fish populations. In 1983, the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) established the area as a marine reserve for the protection of marine and terrestrial wildlife. The park was also established to protect against urban sprawl from Sharm El Sheikh and other coastal development. List Of Lighthouses In Israel
The lighthouses of Israel are all located along its coastline. Most of the Israel's coastline faces west on the Mediterranean Sea, with a short coastline at the southern tip of the country, on the Gulf of Aqaba. Israel's main ports are the Port of Haifa and the Port of Ashdod on the Mediterranean, and the Port of Eilat on the Gulf of Aqaba. Daedalus Reef
Daedalus Reef (also known as Abu Kizan) is a 400-meter-long and 100-meter-wide () standalone reef in the Egyptian Red Sea situated about 90 kilometers from Marsa Alam. There is a small artificial island in the center of the reef, which hosts a lighthouse constructed in 1863 and rebuilt in 1931.
