List Of Judges Of The European Court Of Human Rights
The European Court of Human Rights is an international tribunal established for enforcement of the European Convention on Human Rights. It is an organ of the Council of Europe and judges are elected to the Court by the Council's Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Parliamentary Assembly in respect of each Member State. However, they do not represent the state, as they hear cases as individuals. Pere Pastor Vilanova (born 29 November 1968) is an Andorran judge and jurist. He was appointed in November 2015 as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and elected Section President on the 19th september 2022. Education Pere Pastor Vilanova graduated from Sciences Po Toulouse in 1990 with a degree in politics. He also holds a master’s degree in business, administrative and financial studies from the Montpellier Business School, which he obtained in 1992. He then continued his studies at the ''École nationale d’administration de Paris'' (''promotion'' Saint-Exupéry) and was awarded a master’s degree in public administration in 1994. In 2002 he obtained a PhD in public law from the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole. Early life and education Pavli was born on 7 April 1975 in Vlora, Albania. He studied at the Faculty of law of the University of Tirana from 1993 to 1997 and obtained there a bachelor of laws. Arnfinn Bårdsen (born 11 July 1966) is a Norwegian judge. He was born in Stavanger, graduated as cand.jur. from the University of Bergen in 1992 and took the dr.juris degree in 1999. He worked as an associate professor at the University of Bergen from 1992 to 2003, except for the period 1994 to 1995 when he was an acting deputy judge in Jæren. María Elósegui Itxaso (born, 7 December 1957, San Sebastián) is a Spanish jurist, philosopher and Professor of Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zaragoza. She was appointed in January 2018 a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
