Industrial metal is the fusion of heavy metal and industrial music, typically employing repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals. Prominent industrial metal acts include Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Godflesh, and Fear Factory. Industrial metal developed in the late 1980s, as industrial and metal began to fuse into a common genre. Industrial metal did well in the early 1990s, particularly in North America, with the success of groups such as Nine Inch Nails, but its popularity began to fade in the latter half of the 1990s. Apartment 26
Apartment 26 was a nu metal/industrial metal band from Leamington Spa, England, formed in 1998. They released two albums on the major labels Hollywood Records and Atlantic Records, ''Hallucinating'' and ''Music for the Massive'' respectively. After being dropped from Atlantic Records, the band disbanded in late 2004. History Apartment 26 was formed in 1998 by vocalist Terence "Biff" Butler, guitarist Jon Greasley, bassist Louis Cruden, and keyboardist Andy "A.C." Huckvale. The band name was taken from the David Lynch film ''Eraserhead''. Also notably, Butler was the son of Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler. The band was influenced by older acts such as Black Sabbath, but also had embraced 1990s bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, The Prodigy, Tool, Fear Factory, among others. Bastard Noise
Bastard Noise is an American noise band founded in 1991 by musicians Eric Wood, Henry Barnes, and W. T. Nelson. The project started as a type of sister band to the trio's previous group Man Is The Bastard. While Man Is the Bastard broke-up in late 1997, the Bastard Noise project continued and acts as Wood's current project. Early recordings from the group's extensive discography were mostly self-released and predominantly featured only electronics and vocals. Since its formation, however, Bastard Noise has made releases with underground labels such as Three One G, Relapse Records, Gravity Records, Deep Six, Vermiform Records, Robotic Empire, among others. During live performances, Wood often recruits other musicians to perform with him, the likes of which have included Merzbow, Justin Pearson, Keiji Haino and most recently Saira Huff. Autokrator (metal Band)
Autokrator is a French blackened death metal band, formed in 2014. Biography In 2015 Autokrator recorded its first album, called ''Autokrator'', first released digitally by the band itself, then on vinyl by Iron Bonehead Productions, on CD by Godz ov War Productions / Third Eye Temple and on tape by Inferna Profundus Records. Each song of the album deals with a Roman emperor, known for his cruelty. Author & Punisher is a one-man band from San Diego, formed in January 2004 by mechanical engineer and artist Tristan Shone. Most of the instrumentation and controllers Shone uses, called "Drone Machines" and "Dub Machines", are custom-designed and fabricated by Shone from raw materials and open-source electronic circuitry. Shone has released nine albums as Author & Punisher, with '' Melk en Honing'' (2015) and ''Pressure Mine'' (2017) released through Phil Anselmo's record label Housecore Records. The Austerity Program is a noise rock and alternative metal band that formed in New York City in 1997, founded by guitarist Justin Foley and bassist Thad Calabrese. Atrocity is a German heavy metal band from Ludwigsburg that formed in 1985. History First started in 1985 as Instigators and playing grindcore, Atrocity arose as a death metal band with their debut EP, ''Blue Blood'', in 1989, followed soon by ''Hallucinations'', a concept album about drug use. ASP is a German gothic rock band from Frankfurt am Main formed in 1999. The name is identical to the pseudonym of the band's leader Asp (Alexander Spreng), and is pronounced as one word (like the snake). Biography ASP were formed in 1999 by Alexander Frank Spreng (a.k.a. Arkaea
Arkaea was a heavy metal music, metal band formed in 2008 featuring members from Fear Factory and Threat Signal. History The band was formed by Raymond Herrera (drums) and Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar), who had just left Fear Factory. They recorded a demo, sent it to Threat Signal vocalist Jon Howard and Arkaea was spawned. They tried to obtain Sam Rivers (bassist), Sam Rivers for bass, but he declined due to location. Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne offered his services but could not tour due to Mudvayne commitments. Finally, another Threat Signal member, Pat Kavanagh, joined on bass. Their debut album was 13 tracks, most of which were originally intended for a new Fear Factory album. ''Years in the Darkness'' was released on July 14, 2009.
