Kraljevica-class Patrol Boat
The Kraljevica class was a class of large anti-submarine patrol boats built for the Yugoslav Navy ( sh, Jugoslavenska ratna mornarica – JRM) during the 1950s. Built by the Tito's Shipyard in Kraljevica, the 24 boats of the class were built in two series, the first from 1951 until 1954 (''PBR-501'' – ''PBR-512'') and the second from 1954 until 1957 (''PBR-513'' – ''PBR-524''). Although similar in layout, boats of the second series featured a slightly larger displacement and more powerful machinery. Boats of the first series were stricken from the JRM inventory in 1983–86 while the last of second series were stricken in 1986–90. A number of these boats were exported to countries of the Non-Aligned Movement: per two boats to Bangladesh and Sudan, six to Indonesia and a single boat to Ethiopia. These were retired during the 1980s with the last operational boats appearing to be two in Indonesian service which were placed in reserve in 1989. Description and construction ...

BNS Durjoy (1985)
BNS ''Durjoy'' is a Type 037-class submarine chaser of the Bangladesh Navy. She served the Bangladesh Navy from 1985 to 1995. Career ''BNS Durjoy'' was commissioned to the Bangladesh Navy on 1 December 1985. In 1995, she was damaged beyond repair and subsequently decommissioned. She served the Bangladesh Navy for about nine years. Electronics The ship uses a Pot Head radar as primary electronics. It is a surface search radar which is effective in performing mine laying operations. For ASW operations, she uses Chinese SJD-3 telescoping high frequency active sonar. Instead of being fixed to the hull, SJD-3 has a telescoping arm, so when not in use, the sonar is stored in the hull, and when deployed, the sonar is lowered into water several meter below the hull, thus increasing the detection range by avoiding buffeting generated by the hull. Armament The primary armaments of the ship are two twin 57mm 70-cal Type 76 DP guns and two twin 25mm 60cal Type 61 guns. Besides these, she ...

Submarine Chaser
A submarine chaser or subchaser is a small naval vessel that is specifically intended for anti-submarine warfare. Many of the American submarine chasers used in World War I found their way to Allied nations by way of Lend-Lease in World War II. Submarine chaser variants U.S. Navy submarine chasers were designed specifically to destroy German submarines in World War I, and Japanese and German submarines in World War II. The small SC-1-class submarine chasers of the design used in World War I carried the hull designator SC (for Submarine Chaser). Their main weapon was the depth charge. They also carried machine guns and anti-aircraft guns. The similar-sized SC-497-class was built for World War II. Also in World War II, larger PC-461-class submarine chasers used the PC hull classification symbol (for Patrol, Coastal).Gardiner and Chesneau, pp. 71, 152-154 Class relationships: * 438 (98t, wooden hull) * 343 (450t, steel hull) * 68 (850t, steel hull) ** used in similar ro ...

Type 062 Class Gunboat
The Type 062 gunboat is a class of gunboat of the People's Liberation Army Navy first developed and constructed in the 1950s. This unsophisticated class is relatively well-armed for its size and is the most widely built and exported Chinese naval vessel in terms of numbers. A total of 30 were built, initial boats being known as the Shanghai I class and later slightly improved boats being known as the Shanghai II class. The Shanghai I class was slightly smaller than its successor, the Shanghai II class, displacing 125 tons instead of 135 tons, and had a twin Chinese Type 66 57 mm gun mount forward. All other specifications are identical to the Shanghai II class, which replaced the 57 mm with twin 37 mm gun mounts. Some boats remained in active service well into the early 1990s in the PLA navy and longer in the case of the Korean People's Navy. Origin Type 062 gunboat is a result of several competing/developmental designs, all in response of PLAN's request of a new 10 ...

Missile Boat
A missile boat or missile cutter is a small, fast warship armed with anti-ship missiles. Being smaller than other warships such as destroyers and frigates, missile boats are popular with nations interested in forming a navy at lower cost. They are similar in concept to the torpedo boats of World War II; in fact, the first missile boats were modified torpedo boats with the torpedo tubes replaced by missile tubes. The doctrine behind the use of missile boats is based on the principle of mobility over defence and firepower. The advent of proper guided missile and electronic countermeasure technologies gave birth to the idea that warships could now be designed to outmaneuver their enemies and conceal themselves while carrying powerful weapons. Previously, increasing the potency of naval artillery required larger projectiles, which required larger and heavier guns, which in turn called for larger ships to carry these guns and their ammunition and absorb their recoil. This trend culm ...
