Beaver River, Nova Scotia
Beaver River is a small rural community that straddles the Digby County and Yarmouth County line, located on the southwest coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, near the town of Yarmouth. Sluice Point, Nova Scotia
Sluice Point (french: Pointe du Sault) is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Argyle Municipality in Yarmouth County. Education The school started with the primary department in 1870. There was opposition to both the school and the Indian Sluice Point Bridge (to Surette's Island). Education was not well understood then, and one man, Jacques Babin, stubbornly affirmed that no bridge or school would be built while he was alive. In the primary department there were about twenty-five seats. It was big enough at that time, but the population increased, so they built the advanced department in 1902. Roberts Island is a community located in the Yarmouth Municipal District of Yarmouth County in Nova Scotia, Canada. History The island was called Île La Tour by Acadians, after Charles de Saint-Étienne de la Tour who had a trading post in this area. A settlement on the island prior to the Acadian Expulsion was also known as "Ouikmakagan". The island is said to be the birthplace of the American dish pasta primavera. In 1975, New York restaurateur Sirio Maccioni, then owner of the French restaurant Le Cirque, was visiting an estate on Roberts Island known as Shangri-La. Pubnico is a small French Acadian community located in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia on Nova Scotia Trunk 3. History Pubnico was founded in 1653 by Philippe Mius d'Entremont. It is the oldest Acadian community still inhabited mainly by Acadians; most of today's residents are descendants of the founder. Geography Pubnico consists of three sections.
