Roads with highway names in Australia are roads that are usually, but not necessarily, classified as a highway by a state or territory road authority. There are also many roads classified as a highway, but without a highway name. For example, Great Southern Highway is classified as a main road, not as a highway, or Hereward Highway in the Sydney suburb of Blacktown which is a two lane suburban street with the name Highway, while the King Georges Road is classified as a highway, but does not have the word "Highway" in its name. There are a number of freeways in Australia, or freeway-standard roads, which may or may not be classified as highways, and may or may not be named as highways. Great Southern Highway
Great Southern Highway is a highway in the southern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, starting from Great Eastern Highway at The Lakes, from Perth, and ending at Albany Highway near Cranbrook. It is the primary thoroughfare for this part of Western Australia and runs parallel with the Perth-Albany railway for its entire length. It is signed as State Route 120 from York to Cranbrook, and was first named in 1949, although it was built well before that time. Description The highway initially travels east to the historic town of York, before following the Avon Valley and the railway roughly southwards until Narrogin. The highway then runs parallel with Albany Highway at a distance of about through Wagin and Katanning before curving to approach Albany Highway where it ends past Cranbrook. Batman Highway
Batman Highway is a two-lane rural highway in northern Tasmania. Buchanan Highway
The Buchanan Highway, Northern Territory, Australia, runs west from Birdum on the Stuart Highway crossing the Buntine Highway at Top Springs and eventually connecting with the Victoria Highway near Timber Creek. it was unsealed for its entire length, at . Bruxner Highway
Bruxner Highway, and its former alignment as Bruxner Way, are a state highway and rural road respectively, located in New South Wales, Australia. The route forms an east–west link from the Northern Rivers coast, across the Northern Tablelands in northern New South Wales, close to the border with Queensland. It was named after Michael Bruxner, NSW Minister for Transport from 1932 to 1941. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. Browns Well Highway
Browns Well Highway is a road connecting Loxton, South Australia through the Murray Mallee to Pinnaroo in South Australia. It was named in 2008 after the Browns Well district for areas traversed by the highway. Railways were evenly spaced across the Mallee before road transport improved. The Browns Well highway crosses the Loxton railway line on the outskirts of the town, the former Barmera railway line at Paruna about 34 km along the route, and the former Peebinga railway line 64 km along the route. The Brooker Highway is a highway in the State of Tasmania, Australia. As one of Hobart's 3 major radials, the highway connects traffic from the Hobart city centre with the northern suburbs and is the major road connection to the cities and towns of Northern Tasmania. With an AADT of 48,000, the highway is one of the busiest in Tasmania. The Brooker Highway has recently been declared part of the National Highway. Brisbane Valley Highway
The Brisbane Valley Highway is a state highway in Queensland, Australia. It links the Warrego Highway near Ipswich and the D'Aguilar Highway about north of Harlin. Its direction follows the approximate course of the Brisbane River. It is part of State Route A17, which is duplexed with the D'Aguilar Highway to Nanango and then becomes the Burnett Highway. Brand Highway
Brand Highway is a main highway linking the northern outskirts of Perth to Geraldton in Western Australia. Together with North West Coastal Highway, it forms part of the Western Australian coastal link to the Northern Territory. The highway is a part of Australia's Highway 1, and is for the most part a single carriageway with one lane in each direction.
