Heatly School is a public Pre K-12 school located in Green Island, Albany County, New York Albany County ( ) is a county in the state of New York, United States. Its northern border is formed by the Mohawk River, at its confluence with the Hudson River, which is to the east. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 3 ..., U.S.A., and is the only high school operated by the Green Island Union Free School District. The school is named after James Heatly, who was the Superintendent of Schools from 1880 to 1924. Loudonville, New York
Loudonville is a hamlet in the town of Colonie, in Albany County, New York, United States. Loudonville was a census-designated place in the 1970, 1980, and 1990 US Census, but ceased to be in the 2000 Census, but became a CDP again in 2020. History The hamlet is named after John Campbell, 4th Earl of Loudoun and was originally a 19th-century summer resort for some of Albany's wealthiest residents. Loudon Road, known as Old Plank Road in the early 19th century, is lined with several historic Jeffersonian mansions. Christian Brothers Academy (Albany, New York)
Christian Brothers Academy is a private, Catholic, college preparatory, junior and senior high school for boys founded in 1859 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers (See Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools). Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) is located in the town of Colonie, New York near the Albany International Airport on a campus built in 1998. Christian Brothers Academy is independently run by a board of trustees. History In 1854, the Christian Brothers were invited to Albany by Bishop John McCloskey, to open an orphan asylum for boys. To help support the asylum, the Brothers began a pay school in 1859 in which eighty boys enrolled. Stagecoaches carried the boys from downtown to the school's rural location. Bishop Maginn High School
Bishop Maginn High School was a Catholic high school in Albany, New York. It was a coeducational institution. The school belonged to the school system of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. It was accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and the Middle States Association. In February of 2022, it was announced that Bishop Maginn would close at the end of the 2021-22 school year. The school officially closed on June 29, 2022 after years of declining enrollment and financial difficulties. History Bishop Maginn was named after the former Auxiliary Bishop of Albany Edward Joseph Maginn. Two former high schools operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, Vincentian Institute (VI) and Cardinal McCloskey High School, were merged in 1977, creating Bishop Maginn High School in the former McCloskey building. Founded in 1814 by Ebenezer Foote as the ''Albany Female Academy'', AAG is the oldest independent girls day school in the United States. Latham, New York
Latham is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Albany County, New York, United States. It is located along U.S. Route 9 in the town of Colonie, a dense suburb north of Albany. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,736. Latham was a census-designated place in the 1970, 1980, and 1990 US Censuses, but ceased to be in the 2000 Census, then became a CDP again in 2020. History The area was known at different times in its history as Yearsley's (c. 1829), Van Vranken's (c. 1851), Town House Corners (c. 1860) and Latham's Corners, named after hotel owner William G. Shaker High School
Shaker High School, is a public high school in Latham, Albany County, New York, United States, and is the only high school operated by the North Colonie Central School District. The school's Science Bowl team finished first in their regional competition in 2020 earning trips to the national competition in Washington, DC.
