Carl Malmsten
Carl Malmsten (December 7, 1888 – August 13, 1972) was a Swedish furniture designer, architect, and educator who was known for his devotion to traditional Swedish craftmanship (''slöjd'') and his opposition to functionalism. He "considered the rationalization of the home according to functionalist principles a debasement of its traditional role as an intimate place for gathering and repose". Biography Malmsten was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of Karl Malmsten and Inez Cadier. Malmsten's career took off when he won a competition in 1916 to design furniture for the Stockholm City Hall (''stadshus''); in 1917, he exhibited alongside well-known Swedish architects such as Gunnar Asplund and Uno Åhrén. Malmsten founded an eponymous furniture store on the riverfront of Stockholm. The store is currently run by his grandson. Överste, Colonel Carl Jonas Wærn (23July 1915 – 6November 2003) was a Swedish Army officer who led Swedish, Irish, and Indian peacekeeping troops in the Congo Crisis. He also commanded Swedish forces on Cyprus in 1964. Later, he served as adjutant to Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden. Arvid Mauritz Posse (5 January 1792 – 22 July 1850) was a Swedish politician, count and Marshal of the Realm, who served as Prime Minister for Justice in 1840 and between 1846–1848. Biography Posse was born into a noble family, as the son of Count and Lord of the Realm Arvid Erik Posse and his wife, the baroness Catharina Charlotta von Otter. The family was of Jutlandic origin and belonged to the high nobility, having been raised to countship in 1706. Posse received his education at Lund University. He went on to work at Göta Court of Appeal and later became an assessor at the Svea Court of Appeal in 1816. Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister for Justice, Posse had served as governor of Skaraborg County as well as director-general of the Swedish Customs Service. Count Georg Adlersparre (March 28, 1760 – September 23, 1835) was a Sweden, Swedish army commander, politician and writer from the Adlersparre family. He was the leader of the Coup of 1809, leading to the deposition of King Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden. Biography Adlersparre was born in Hovermo (now a part of Berg Municipality, Jämtland County). Having entered the army at the age of 15, he received from King Gustav III of Sweden, Gustav III, in 1791, a secret commission to excite the Norway, Norwegians to rebellion.
