This is a list of governors of Himachal Pradesh. Sh. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is the 21st governor (30th if governors with additional charge also counted) of Himachal Pradesh since July 2021. Out of the regular 20 governors (except the present one) of the state only three have been able to complete their full terms: S. Chakravarti (1971–77), Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje (2003–08) and Urmila Singh (2010–15). Emblem Of Himachal Pradesh
The Emblem of Himachal Pradesh is the official state seal used by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and is carried on all official correspondences made by State of Himachal Pradesh. It was adopted by the Government of Himachal Pradesh at the establishment of the state on 25 January 1971. The State of Himachal Pradesh has an Emblem consisting of a mountain ridge over three white fesses, charged with the Aśoka capital. Viswanathan Ratnam
Viswanathan Ratnam (1 August 1932 – 23 May 2020) was an Indian judge and politician. He served as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court and Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Life and career Ratnam was born in 1932. He passed B.Sc., LL.B. and was enrolled as an Advocate on 25 July 1955. He started practice on Civil and Labour matters in the Madras High Court. Ratnam became the member of the Executive Committee of the Tamil Nadu Legal Aid Board. On 25 January 1979, he was appointed permanent Judge of Madras High Court. Since 15 November 1992, he also took charge of the Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Justice Ratnam was elevated in the post of Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court on 29 January 1994 and retired on 1 August 1994 from the post. Bandaru Dattatreya (born 12 June 1947) is an Indian politician serving as the current Governor of the State of Haryana since 2021. He was also the 20th Governor of Himachal Pradesh and was the Member of Lok Sabha for Secunderabad from 2014 to 2019. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kalraj Mishra (born 1 July 1941) is an Indian politician, serving as the Governor of Rajasthan. He is the former Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Cabinet Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the BJP-led NDA government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Being affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he was a member of Parliament from Deoria constituency in Uttar Pradesh from 2014 to 2019. Acharya Devvrat (born 18 January 1959) is an Indian politician and former educationalist who is serving as the 20th Governor of Gujarat. He is an Arya Samaj ''pracharak'' and served previously as the principal of a Gurukul in Kurukshetra, Haryana. Being the Governor of Gujarat, he is also the Chancellor of state universities of Gujarat. In August 2015, Devvrat was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Kalyan Singh (5 January 1932 – 21 August 2021) was an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a Member of Parliament. He was the Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh during the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992. Urmila Singh (6 August 1946 – 29 May 2018) was the former Governor of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. She was appointed governor on 25 January 2010. Early life Urmila Singh was born in Phingeshwar village in Raipur district, now located in Chhattisgarh state, into a landowning family of central India, which also produced freedom fighters and social reformers.
