A game show host is an individual who manages a game show, introduces contestants, and asks quiz questions to test the knowledge of said contestants. They may also have other duties pertinent to production. History In 1938, Freddie Grisewood was the first game show host. He directed '' Spelling Bee'', a fifteen-minute show that was broadcast in the United Kingdom over radio and television. Characteristics Especially in the United States, game show hosts have generally been conservative or libertarian in their political beliefs. Reasons for this include many of the hosts' rural origins (early television personalities were expected to have natural General American English accents, which were most prominent in the Midwest) and the merit-based nature of the game show format. Herminio Jose Lualhati "Ogie" Alcasid Jr. (; born August 27, 1967) is a Filipino singer-songwriter, television presenter, comedian, parodist, and actor. He is currently the President of OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit). Early career Ogie is a former batch member of the all-male singing group ''Kundirana'' batch 1984 after Gary Valenciano. ''MTV Rock N' Jock'' is a television series on MTV featuring actors, musicians, and other entertainers playing sports with professional athletes. The original episode was called ''The MTV Rock N' Jock Diamond Derby,'' and was changed to ''MTV's Rock N' Jock Softball Challenge,'' in year 2. The concept expanded to include basketball in 1991, football in 1997 and bowling in 1999 The game was an annual feature (with multiple reruns of most episodes) for many years on MTV. The original announcers were professional sportscaster, Steve Albert and comedian Ken Ober who provided color commentary. Steve Albert
Steve Albert (born Stephen Aufrichtig in Brooklyn, New York;April 26, 1952) is a former American sportscaster. He has served as a play-by-play announcer for the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, New York Mets, and Phoenix Suns as well as the Major Indoor Soccer League's New York Arrows. Albert ended his career as the television play-by-play announcer for the Phoenix Suns. He retired following the Suns' 2016-2017 season. He also served as a broadcaster for the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Cleveland Crusaders and New York Jets, and as the sports anchor at WCBS-TV, WNBC-TV and WWOR-TV and did morning sports reports on WABC (AM). He covered major boxing fights on ''Showtime Championship Boxing'' for 17 years, including the infamous " Bite Fight" between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield in 1997. Three Little Words (TV Series)
''Three Little Words'' is a British game show that aired on ITV from 4 July 1967 to 1985. The show was created by Roy Ward Dickson, who invented many game shows. Gameplay A word association game, the aim was to get your partner to say a particular word by giving them single word clues. For example, one partner might offer the clue "headgear" to describe the word "hat". 20 points were given for a word solved on the first clue, 15 points scored for a word solved in two clues and 10 points were awarded for a word solved on the third attempt. After three clues, the opponents had a shot at the word for 5 points. After a certain number of words, the team with the higher score became the champions and won money. Teams could win up to six times before being forced to retire. Ken and Christine Rowland were the only couple to receive full marks having given the correct answers after each first clue word. Ray Alan (18 September 1930 – 24 May 2010) was an English ventriloquist and television entertainer from the 1950s until the 1980s. He was associated primarily with the dummies Lord Charles and Ali Kat and later with the puppets Tich and Quackers. Wild & Crazy Kids
''Wild & Crazy Kids'' is an American television game show in which large teams, usually consisting entirely of children, participated in head-to-head physical challenges on Nickelodeon. The show lasted for three seasons from 1990 until 1992 for a total of 65 episodes. ''Wild & Crazy Kids'' starred three teenage co-hosts Omar Gooding and Donnie Jeffcoat in all three seasons, accompanied by Annette Chavez in season 1 and Jessica Gaynes for the last two seasons. In 2002, a revival was produced which lasted ten episodes and aired on Nickelodeon from July 29 to October 7, 2002. It was hosted by Mati Moralejo, Dave Aizer and Viviane Collins of Nick GAS. ''Nickelodeon Robot Wars'' is a game show that aired on Nickelodeon from August 25, 2002, to October 6, 2002. Hosted by Dave Aizer, the show was Nickelodeon's take on '' Robot Wars'', the popular and long-running robot-fighting game show. The show was canceled after one season, and subsequently aired on Nick GAS. The series of six shows was filmed at Shepperton Studios in England in January 2002, at the same time as the second season of ''Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors'', which aired on TNN in the U.S. (now Paramount Network). Slime Time Live
''Slime Time Live'' is a television show that aired on Nickelodeon from 2000–2004, lasting 8 seasons. During its run it was hosted by Dave Aizer, Jonah Travick and Jessica Holmes and produced/directed by Jason Harper. It was located outside (inside if either weather did not permit, or the outdoor area had become too messy from earlier in the day) of the former Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida (the third-to-last show to do so). It mainly aired as filler during regular commercial time. The show holds two Guinness World Records – most people pied in three minutes (1,000 in 2001), and most people slimed (762 on the finale). David Ross Aizer (born November 24, 1974) is an American television host, writer and producer. Currently he is the channel host for WSFL-TV The CW in South Florida. He hosts the weekly talk show ''Inside South Florida'', as well as the morning news program ''Eye Opener''. Previously, he hosted ''The Morning Show''—a daily, live television morning show on WSFL. The Club (British TV Series)
''The Club'' was a British reality television show, broadcast weekly on ITV. It ran for six weeks, beginning on Thursday 6 March 2003. Presented by Donna Air and Matt Brown, three celebrities were given control of their own individual bar in a London club, named Nylon. Each celebrity was given their own changeable team of staff and viewers were given the chance to vote the celebrities' staff off the show. At the end of the series, viewers were asked to vote for their favourite celebrity bar manager. Actor Dean Gaffney was the eventual winner, beating presenter/singer Richard Blackwood and former ''Page 3'' model, Samantha Fox. 49 percent of the audience voted him the best manager and he won the £15,000 prize.
