This is a list of notable frozen yogurt companies. Frozen yogurt is a frozen dessert made with yogurt and sometimes other dairy products including non-dairy products. It varies from slightly to much more tart than ice cream, as well as being lower in fat (due to the use of milk instead of cream). It is different from ice milk (later termed low-fat or light ice cream) and conventional soft serve. Unlike yogurt, frozen yogurt is not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but is regulated by some U.S. states. Frozen yogurt may or may not contain live and active bacteria cultures. The Yogoberry () is the largest Brazilian chain of frozen yogurt and smoothie stores, founded in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro by the South Korean sisters Un Ae Hong and Jong Ae Hong. The chain has more than 24 stores throughout Brazil, and two stores in Iran. TCBY (The Country's Best Yogurt) is an American chain of frozen yogurt stores. It is one of the largest U.S. retailers of soft-serve frozen yogurt. History In 1981, Frank D. Hickingbotham opened the first TCBY in Little Rock, Arkansas. TCBY began franchising the following year, and by 1984 there were over 100 stores. The Bigg Chill
The Bigg Chill is a frozen yogurt shop in Westwood, Los Angeles. It was established in 1986, and bought in 1990 by current owners Diane Dinow, daughter Cary Russell, and son Michael Mendelsohn. The store has been noted for its interior design, variety of conventional flavors, and longevity. In 2021, The Bigg Chill was publicly criticized on Instagram by singer Demi Lovato, who suffered a social media backlash for her comments.
