Cronulla-Sutherland District Rugby Football League
The Cronulla-Sutherland District Rugby Football League (Cronulla-Sutherland District Junior Rugby Football League in the case of junior football) is an amateur competition for rugby league clubs in and around the Sutherland Shire district of New South Wales, Australia. The Cronulla-Sutherland District Rugby Football League was formed in the early 1950s following the formation of several new Sutherland Shire based clubs and the arrangement of a committee that would eventually become the CSDRFL. All Shire based clubs had previously played in several Inter-District matches throughout the year but with the formation of a localised Sutherland league these were no longer deemed necessary. Rick Bourke
Richard (Rick) Bourke (16 November 1953 – 15 August 2006) was an Australian rugby league footballer. He played for Cronulla-Sutherland and South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Playing career A Sharkies legend, Rick Bourke played 10 seasons for Cronulla at wing and fullback including scoring their only try in the 10-7 1973 Grand Final loss to a Bob Fulton inspired Manly-Warringah at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He also played on the wing for Cronulla in the drawn Grand Final against Manly in 1978, as well as playing fullback in the replay played just two days later. Manly won the replay 16-0. A local junior from Caringbah, New South Wales, Bourke scored thirty eight tries during his ten-year career at Cronulla, and was a crowd favourite. The Gold Coast Titans are a professional rugby league football club, based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australia and New Zealand's national rugby league club competition. Warrington Wolves
The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004. Founded as Warrington Zingari Football Club in 1876, they are one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 and the only one that has played every season in the top flight. They are nicknamed "The Wire" in reference to the wire-drawing industry in the town. Warrington have local rivalries with Widnes, St Helens and Wigan. Paul Bishop (rugby League)
Paul Bishop (born 5 July 1967) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played for Warrington, Cronulla Sharks, St Helens, Gold Coast Seagulls and Halifax. Early life Born in England, Bishop moved to Australia at an early age when his father, Tommy Bishop, signed for Cronulla Sharks in 1969. When his father returned to England in the early 1980s, Bishop played junior rugby league for Thatto Heath. On his 17th birthday, he was signed by Warrington. Playing career Warrington Bishop made his debut for Warrington in October 1984, scoring a try and kicking seven goals in a 42–30 win against Workington Town. On 11 May 1986, in the semi-final of the 1985–86 Rugby League Premiership, Bishop scored a record-equalling five drop goals in a 23–10 win against Wigan. Newtown Jets
The Newtown Jets are an Australian rugby league football club based in Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west. They currently compete in the NSW Cup competition, having left the top grade after the 1983 NSWRFL season. The Jets' home ground is Henson Park, and their team colours are blue (traditionally royal blue) and white. Established in 1908, Newtown were one of the founding members of the New South Wales Rugby Football League. They competed continuously in the NSWRFL premiership until their departure in 1983, the first reduction in the League since 1937. Over this period they won the competition three times.
