Mississauga Fire And Emergency Services
Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services (MFES) provides fire protection, technical rescue services, hazardous materials response, and first responder emergency medical assistance to the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The Fire Service was established in 1968 and formed from local departments (Cooksville, Lakeview, Malton, Meadowvale) that existed prior to the creation of Mississauga, Ontario. The Port Credit Fire Department and Streetsville Fire Departments were added upon the amalgamation of those communities with Mississauga in 1974. MFES was mainly made up of the Toronto Township Volunteer Fire Department, itself created from volunteer units in the 1870s. By 1975, Mississauga's fire service was a full-time service. Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) provides fire protection, technical rescue services, hazardous materials response, and first responder emergency medical assistance to the city of Ottawa, Ontario. Organization Like most North American fire departments, the Ottawa Fire Services is organized in a paramilitary fashion. The current Chief of the department is Kim Ayotte. Serving Under Ayotte are three Deputy Chiefs, four Platoon Chiefs, five Division Chiefs, four Rural Sector Chiefs and twenty District Chiefs. Canadian Forces Fire Fighters
Canadian Forces Fire and Emergency Services provide fire and emergency services to Canadian Forces land bases in Canada where local services are not available or sufficient. Some bases also require airport fire fighting capabilities, especially those in air bases. Personnel Military firefighters in the Canadian Forces are non-commissioned members, and are required to undergo basic training. After basic training they will go to the Canadian Forces Fire Academy in Borden. From there members will be posted to a military base.
