WTA Rankings
The WTA rankings are the ratings defined by the Women's Tennis Association, introduced in November 1975. Iga Świątek is the current world No. 1. Ranking method The WTA rankings are based on a rolling 52-week, cumulative system. A player's ranking is determined by her results at a maximum of 16 tournaments for singles and 11 for doubles and points are awarded based on how far a player advances in a tournament. The basis for calculating a player's ranking are those tournaments that yield the highest ranking points during the rolling 52-week period with the condition that they must include points from the 4 Grand Slams, the 4 Premier Mandatory tournaments and the WTA Finals. In addition, for Top 20 players, their best two results at Premier 5 tournaments will also count. Up until 2016, the WTA also distributed ranking points, for singles players only, who competed at the Summer Olympics. However, this has since been discontinued. Rosie Darmon
Rosa María "Rosie" Reyes Darmon (''née'' Reyes; born 23 March 1939) is a retired tennis player from Mexico who was active in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of her success came on clay on which she won the women's doubles title at the 1958 French Championships with countrywoman Yola Ramírez. She also reached the finals at the same event in 1957 and 1959. In singles, her best result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the semifinals of the 1959 French Championships in which she lost in straight sets to Zsuzsa Körmöczy of Hungary. She competed in the women's doubles event at 1968 Summer Olympics, where tennis was reintroduced as an exhibition and demonstration event. Partnering Julie Heldman, she won the gold medal in the exhibition event, held in Mexico City, and the silver medal in the demonstration event, held in Guadalajara. Beryl Penrose Collier
Beryl Penrose (22 December 1930 – 20 June 2021) was an Australian international tennis player. She competed in the Australian Open eight times, from 1950 to 1957. Penrose won the singles title in 1955 defeating compatriot Thelma Coyne Long in the final in straight sets. In January 1948 she won the Australian girls singles title. In July 1952 she won the singles title at the Welsh Championship. Her best results came in 1955, aged 24, when in addition to her Australian success, she reached the quarterfinals at the French and Wimbledon Championships. While overseas, Penrose reached four finals including winning the German Championships against Erika Vollmer. She was rated as high as 5th in the world in the 1955 tennis rankings. Jill Blackman
Jill Alison Emmerson (born 24 July 1942) is an Australian former tennis player from Sydney. She competed under her maiden name Jill Blackman until the late 1960s. Emmerson was a singles quarter-finalist at the 1963 French Championships and 1964 Australian Championships. In 1966 she and Fay Toyne made the women's doubles final of the French Championships, which they lost in three sets to Margaret Smith and Judy Tegart.
