Adeline Masquelier
Adeline Marie Masquelier (born 1960) is a Professor of Anthropology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Biography She received her baccalaureate in biology and physics (with honors) at Centre St. Marc, in Lyon, Lyon, France (1978), her B.A. in Zoology (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1980), and M.A. in Anthropology (Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, 1984). She also received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1993 studying under the prominent African studies, Africanist and Anthropologist Jean Comaroff, and has done her field work among the people of rural Niger in the Hausa people, Hausa town of Dogondoutchi. Her research focuses have included spirit possession, Islamic Modernism, reformist Islam, Bori (religion), Bori religious practices, twinship, witchcraft, the pathology of consumption, medical anthropology, and gender. Amanda Adams
Amanda Adams (born September 12, 1976) is an American author and archaeologist. She is also a former fashion model and was featured in the 1996 Buffalo Jeans campaign. Biography She attended University of California, Berkeley, Department of Anthropology in the late 1990s and completed her degree with the Kroeber prize. She then obtained a master's degree in archaeology from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Her thesis was titled ''Visions Cast on Stone'', abstracts were published in the journal ''The Midden''. Adams' first book. ''A Mermaid's Tale'', was about mermaid legends from around the world.
