Fields Medal
The Fields Medal is a prize awarded to two, three, or four mathematicians under 40 years of age at the International Congress of the International Mathematical Union (IMU), a meeting that takes place every four years. The name of the award honours the Canadian mathematician John Charles Fields. Roksana Bahramitash
Roksana Bahramitash (born 1956) is an Iranian Canadians, Iranian-born Canadian Sociology, sociologist, author, and professor. Her work focuses on women, employment and the informal economy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as gender segregation in Islam, and microeconomics. In Iranian Revolution, post-revolution Iran, Bahramitash was working on improving peasant women's literacy and access to economic development resources. Early life and education She was placed second in nationwide Iranian University entrance exams, and attended Universities in Iran where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Sociology. Bahramitash came to Canada in 1991 to complete her PhD in Sociology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. National Petrochemical Company
The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) ( fa, شرکت ملی صنایع پتروشیمی, ''Shirkat-e Mili-ye Sânai'-ye Petrushimiy''), a subsidiary to the Iranian Petroleum Ministry, is owned by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is responsible for the development and operation of the country's petrochemical sector. Founded in 1964, NPC began its activities by operating a small fertilizer plant in Shiraz. Today, NPC is the second largest producer and exporter of petrochemicals in the Middle East. Saba Valadkhan
Saba Valadkhan ( fa, صبا ولدخان) is an Iranian American biomedical scientist, and an Assistant Professor and RNA researcher at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2005, she was awarded the GE / ''Science'' Young Scientist Award for her breakthrough in understanding the mechanism of spliceosomes - "akin to finding the Holy Grail of the splicing catalysis field" - a critical area of research, given that "20 percent or 30 percent of all human genetic diseases are caused by mistakes that the spliceosome makes". Education Valadkhan qualified as a medical doctor at Tehran University of Medial Sciences in Iran in 1996. She moved to America to pursue her Ph.D. at Columbia University, New York.
