Aquilonastra Burtoni
''Aquilonastra burtoni'' is a species of small sea star from the family Asterinidae from the Red Sea which has colonised the eastern Mediterranean by Lessepsian migration through the Suez Canal, although the Mediterranean populations are clonal reproducing through fissiparous asexual reproduction. It was originally described in 1840 by the English zoologist and philatelist John Edward Gray. Description ''Aquilonastra burtoni'' is a small species of sea star with up to 8 rays, frequently 7, they frequently demonstrate an asymmetrical form after fissiparous division while the form of larger specimens is often symmetrical with 5 equal rays; there is an inconspicuous madreporite in most interradii. The rays narrow basally, tapering to a narrow rounded distal part which is finger-like. Each of the plates on the oral surface has a grouping of 3 crowded mobile tapering spines in their centres, while those of the dorsal surface have a dense group of short tubercles. It is a greeni ...

Description

''Linckia multifora'' has a small disk and five long, slim cylindrical arms that taper slightly towards the tips. The colour is variable and includes brown, pink, red, or gray with small red spots. The surface has a rough texture and is covered in granulations. This starfish can grow to a diameter of 2 to 5 inches (5 to 13 cm).

Linckia Laevigata
''Linckia laevigata'' (sometimes called the "blue ''Linckia''" or blue star) is a species of sea star in the shallow waters of tropical Indo-Pacific. Description and characteristics The variation ("polymorphism", in this case, a "color morph") most commonly found is pure, dark, or light blue, although observers find the aqua, purple, or orange variation throughout the ocean. These sea stars may grow up to 30 cm (11.8 in) in diameter, with rounded tips at each of the arms; some individuals may bear lighter or darker spots along each of their arms. Individual specimens are typically firm in texture, possessing the slightly tubular, elongated arms common to most of other members of the family Ophidiasteridae, and usually possessing short, yellowish tube feet. An inhabitant of coral reefs and sea grass beds, this species is relatively common and is typically found in sparse density throughout its range. Blue stars live subtidally, or sometimes intertidally, on fine (san ...

Linckia Guildingi
''Linckia guildingi'', also called the common comet star, Guilding's sea star or the green Linckia, is a species of sea star reported from the shallow waters of the tropical Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Taxonomy Recent studies have indicated that ''Linckia guildingi'' may represent several cryptic species. Examination of the mtDNA showed that there are two clades within ''L. guildingi''. The divergence between these implies that they separated over a million years ago. Distribution This species was described from St Vincent's, (Saint Vincent (Antilles)) in the Caribbean Sea. Description ''L. guildingi'' has a small disc and usually 5 (occasionally 4 or 6) long cylindrical arms. The upper surface appears smooth but is in fact rough to the touch with low, firm nodules. Though this starfish is often green, it comes in a range of colours including various shades of brown, blue and dull red. Biology ''L. guildingi'' sometimes exhibits autotomy, ...

Thromidia Catalai
''Thromidia catalai'', sometimes called the heavy starfish, is a species of starfish in the family Mithrodiidae in the order Valvatida. It is native to the Indo-Pacific region. ''Thromidia catalai'' is one of the largest and heaviest starfishes in the world. It is reported to weigh as much as and have a diameter of . This species was first described by the Australian biologists E. C. Pope and F. W. E. Rowe in 1977, the type locality being New Caledonia. Description ''Thromidia catalai'' is a large starfish with five arms and a diameter of up to , weighing up to . The surface is covered with low tubercles, giving it a granular appearance. The arms are robust and cylindrical, not tapering much and having rounded tips. The disc is small, and both disc and arms are a pinkish-beige colour, apart from the tips of the arms, which are a dark orange-brown. In contrast to other members of the genus '' Thromidia'', the tips of the arms have small, widely spaced tubercles. The only other s ...

Fromia Indica
''Fromia indica'', commonly called Indian sea star or red starfish, is a species of marine starfish belonging to the family Goniasteridae. Description ''Fromia indica'' can reach a diameter of about to . When young, it is bright red with black tips (but not always), and can become a duller red at maturity. Some describe it as "red with a fine black mesh finterlinked lines.", a characteristic pattern which distinguishes it from the black-spotted sister species ''Fromia milleporella''. Though this sea star normally has five rays, also called arms, some have been found with six, during periods of regeneration. Fromia Elegans
''Fromia elegans'', common name little red star, is a species of marine starfish belonging to the family Goniasteridae Goniasteridae (the biscuit stars) constitute the largest family of sea stars, included in the order Valvatida. They are mostly deep-dwelling species, but the family also include several colorful shallow tropical species. Description Goniast .... Distribution This sea star has been spotted at latitudes from -27.5 to 26.6 and longitudes from 32.7 to 159.6. Habitat The animal is found at depths from down to , in to water. Systematics In 1921, H. L. Clark described this species of sea star as ''Fromia elegans''. In 1938, Engel collected specimens he believed to be ''F. elegans''. Hayashi studied Engel's collection, and finding them to be the same species as '' Fromia indica'', considered the names to be synonyms. In 1971, A. M. Clark believed there were enough differences between some specimens that they should be separate species, and that Engel' ...
