Airport
An airport is an aerodrome with extended facilities, mostly for commercial air transport. Airports usually consists of a landing area, which comprises an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally active surface such as a runway for a plane to take off and to land or a helipad, and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars and terminals, to maintain and monitor aircraft. Larger airports may have airport aprons, taxiway bridges, air traffic control centres, passenger facilities such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services. In some countries, the US in particular, airports also typically have one or more fixed-base operators, serving general aviation. Skyharbor Airport
Skyharbor Airport was a privately owned, public-use airport in Dallas County, Alabama, United States. It was located five nautical miles (5.8 mi, 9.3 km) southwest of the central business district of Selma, Alabama. Since 2011, official FAA records state "Airport closed indefinitely." Facilities and aircraft Skyharbor Airport covers an area of at an elevation of 125 feet (38 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 6/24 with a turf surface measuring 2,500 by 170 feet (762 x 52 m). For the 12-month period ending September 19, 1996, the airport had an average of 129 general aviation aircraft operations per week. At that time there were 14 aircraft based at this airport: 93% single-engine and 7% multi-engine. Cape Air Force Base also known as Fort Glenn Army Air Base, is a site significant for its role in World War II fighting, operating alongside Naval Air Facility Otter Point.
